While browsing my [Melvin] Facebook Wall today, I came across a blog entry by Alvin from Alvinology about two youths whom were in a nursing room and they refused to leave the nursing room when asked politely by a lady whom wants to feed her baby.
A video of what happened [shot by the lady whom wants to feed her baby] is available on Youtube and I’m writing this blog post to express my disgust towards the two inconsiderate boys whom totally have no respect for the lady.

In order to give you readers a balanced point of view, I have also considered the point that the boys might have reacted the way they did in the video as they might have been “taunted” by the lady.

First and foremost, nursing rooms [a.k.a breastfeeding rooms] are meant for ladies whom need to feed their babies. In fact, men are strictly prohibited in most [or if not, all] nursing rooms. So, the boys are definitely in the wrong because they shouldn’t even be there.

Secondly, despite being asked more than once to leave the nursing room, the two boys continued to remain there and showed no intention to leave. This is really selfish because with the two boys in the nursing room, how is the lady able to feed her baby in private; which is the reason why nursing rooms are created in the first place.

Thirdly, although the lady told the boys that they would be “Stomped”, they continued to remain in the nursing room and spewed uncouth words like “asshole” and even pointed the middle finger at the lady. Well, are the boys rude? Definitely. Then again, they might have reacted the way they did because the lady “taunted” them.

Here’s the link to the Stomp Article that the lady put up and also a full account of the story that is available on The New Paper Forum

Given these 3 points, I am dead sure that the two boys were in the wrong. However, there were also some Netizens that commented that the lady was at fault for “taunting” them [the two boys]. In the first place, if the two boys left the nursing room after being asked to leave, this saga wouldn’t even have happened. In fact, they [the two boys] were pretty insistent on being there and as a result, caused the lady to react the way she did. Honestly, touch your heart and ask yourself, wouldn’t any frustrated mothers whom have babies on their arms waiting to be fed explode in this kinda situation? In fact, I think this lady is pretty reasonable because if it was someone else [maybe Xiaxue who’s a mum to be], they might have it worst [I’m just giving an example].

Apparently, Stomp has also updated that one of the youths had requested for the story to be removed because he is embarrassed. That I supposed, could be the boy in the red shirt. Question is, should the public forgive them [the boys] for their unruly behaviour? Well, I guess they ought to be forgiven because sometimes youths do things without thinking of the consequences. However, they shouldn’t be let off that easily and actions ought to be taken against them if they do not learn from their mistakes. Hopefully, they [the boys] will learn to become better individuals after this episode.

Everyone of us can save some lives if we want to. In fact, blood donation is one such opportunity to save lives. So, when Grace from Working With Grace mentioned that she wanted to go for blood donation, we decided to join in too!
Altogether, there were 3 of us Bloggers [Grace, Celestine, and Jacqueline] whom were supposed to be donating blood [less myself because I am not able to donate any blood till my 1 year waiting period is over].

From Blood Donation 2012

By the way, I have donated blood for 11 times already and once my 1 year waiting period is over, I am so going to donate blood before the year comes to a close. Anybody want to join me?

In this blog entry, I will attempt to share with you the Bloggers’ experience of donating blood and some myths + facts about donating blood.

By the way, we went to the Bloodbank @ Dhoby Ghaut that was recently opened in September 2012 and I seriously applaud the move because now, we have 3 places where we can donate blood; one at Outram, one at Woodlands, and one at Dhoby Ghaut [right smack in the city]! Honestly, I really like the idea of a Bloodbank in town because it is extremely accessible and convenient. Not only that, the Bloodbank @ Dhoby Ghaut opens everyday except Thursday and Public Holidays from 12pm to 8pm! So that means if you’re working in the CBD area and you would like to donate blood, you can pop by after office hours!

From Blood Donation 2012

As with all blood donations, every blood donor has to first register and fill up a health questionnaire/form. If you are a first-time blood donor, you will be given a special badge to put on so that the nurses and doctors know that its your first time and trust me, they will definitely handle you with special care.

From Blood Donation 2012

After registration, you will also be given a really cool Blood Donor Card which is printed and issued on the spot. My Blood Donor Card is the old version and Baby’s Blood Donor Card is the latest version.

From Blood Donation 2012

Next up, you will be sent to the Medical Screening Room where a Medical Officer/Doctor will check if you are well and fit enough to donate blood. This is also probably the stage where certain people whom are found unsuitable to donate blood will be rejected. There are a few reasons why certain people are found unsuitable to donate blood. These reasons vary and they can be found on Health Sciences Authority Website.

Once you have been cleared by the Medical Officer/Doctor, you will then need to do a blood test. This is also the stage where people still can get rejected especially if their haemoglobin level is low.

After successfully clearing the blood examination stage, there is just one last step and that is the process of blood donation. At this juncture, first-timers will be extremely nervous and it is perfectly understandable. However, you might still be rejected at this point if your veins are nowhere to be found or are unsuitable.

From Blood Donation 2012

The nurse will first sanitize your arm and thereafter, inject a local anesthetic into your vein, thereby numbing you when the needle is poked into your vein. Of course, the feeling of the needle going into your vein will feel weird but if you’re afraid of needles, you should look away, less you tense up and panic.

Once the needle is in your vein, blood will be drawn from you and the amount to be drawn is dependent on how heavy you weigh. If you weigh between 45 and 50 kg, 350ml of blood will be taken. If you weigh above 50kg, 450 ml of blood will be taken.

Once, you have donated your blood, the nurse will bandage you up and you will then be ushered to the refreshments corner where you can have some light snacks before leaving. Do eat a little because after donating blood, you will feel a bit lightheaded and if you are feeling unwell, quickly sound off.

From Blood Donation 2012

If all is well and good for you, congratulations, you have just saved 3 lives!

Here are some facts about donating blood which will dispel the doubts and myths you may have about blood donation:
All blood collection instruments are disposed permanently after each use.
All blood collections are conducted by qualified & trained staff.
Blood donations do not cause weight gain.

The don’ts of donating blood:
Don’t donate blood if you are feeling unwell.
Don’t donate blood if you do not satisfy the requirements for donating blood.
Don’t lift heavy stuffs with the hand that you just donated blood with. If not, you will see a blue black bruise.

We hope that through this blog entry, you would have been assured that blood donation is extremely safe and that every potential blood donor are assessed on a stringent set of criteria and are certified fit before undergoing blood donation. So, do your part now and save some lives! 🙂

LATEST UPDATES:
After being awoken up due to a ruckus at 3:45am in the morning regarding the parking issue in Clover By The Park Condominium, I went down to kaypoh kaypoh a bit and I have found out some new stuffs from the security guards:

1). There are 80 over empty parking lots as of this moment and these empty parking lots would have been more than sufficient to accommodate all the residents whom are residing here. This is because, some units may not own cars and some units may not even be occupied. It is all about the balancing act.

2). Visitors are now NOT ALLOWED  to visit residents staying at Clover By The Park Condominium after 2359 hours. Seriously, this is a ridiculous rule that was set up by the management and wah lau, you mean I own the unit in Clover By The Park Condominium and my friends + relatives can’t visit me after 2359 hours and can’t stay over for the night?! They think what, lights out ah? Siao! I’m staying in a private estate, not a hospital boy! Even staying in a HDB flat seems like a better deal than having to deal with all this stupid rules and regulations.

3). The rules were all set and laid down by the management committee whom are residents residing in Clover By The Park Condominium, and apparently, SavillsCKH Pte Ltd + Tony Chan [the Condominium Manager] are the ones facilitating these discussions. So, when these rules and regulations were all laid out by the management committee, did they [the residents in the management committee] ever took into consideration the pros and cons and weigh them before making such decisions? Did SavillsCKH Pte Ltd + Tony Chan [the Condominium Manager] warn the management committee of the consequences of such decisions? I guess apparently not. These decisions I believe were made without the approval of the residents [whom are not in the management committee], and seriously, any decision that is to be made that concerns all residents residing in Clover By The Park Condominium should be made with a general consensus i.e voting system.

A Personal Message to Clover By The Park Residents [if you’re reading this blog entry]:

Hi Everyone,

just like you, I am now facing problems that never had existed after the circular regarding parking was issued out. I totally understand your situation but seriously, don’t blame it on the security guards as they are doing their jobs. In fact, the security guards can provide us with vital information that we can bring up and feedback to the management committee.

The management committee comprises of residents within our estate. I believe it is time we vote them out of the committee and vote in residents whom are able to look after the welfare of other residents residing in Clover By The Park Condominium.

And if you’re a resident and you belong in the management committee, watch out because we will hunt you down and ensure that these issues are all settled amicably because our home is a place for us to enjoy, chill, and relax; not have some stupid rules that you think you cleverly thought out but never did consider the consequences. In fact, I suspect that you might be the one whom always park in undesignated lots because you are lazy to walk from point A to point B. Like hello?! It’s first-come-first-serve ok?

Anyhows, for those residents whom are bothered with these issues, kindly group up, gather one another’s contact, and call for a voting session to vote for your rights. This property/home that you bought at such a high price is your home, not anybody else’s home. Don’t let the select few dictate what you can do and what you cannot do without even considering your rights.

For me, I’m less than 2 weeks from moving out, so all the best & good luck! 🙂

Conclusive Statement:
For all you home buyers/investors out there, do consider all these issues before you decide to invest in Clover By The Park Condominium. The external building facade may look good but internally as a community, there are ravenous wolves + dictators whom are out to lay down stupid rules and regulations that will affect your stay here. If you have an unhappy living community, it could be possible that your investments are not worth it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

UPDATE:

After a showdown with the Condominium Manager [his name is Tony Chan] of Clover By The Park Condominium, there is no conclusive decision. In fact, there were three things that I drawn from the showdown:

1). Clover By The Park Condominium is managed by SavillsCKH Pte Ltd and the team does not have any solutions regarding the parking issues affecting the residents whom are staying at Clover By The Park Condominium. They are in fact ignorant about the problem.

2). The management wants residents to think of solutions to the problem when we residents have other things like making ends meet to worry about. Question is, aren’t you paid to “create a blissful living environment and enhance the value of our property” [just like you mentioned in your own website]?

3). “Beyond rendering professional and efficient service, our strength also lies in our personal touch. At SavillsCKH Pte Ltd, we embrace the belief that each client is an individual, and thus, endevour to personalise our service delivery to ensure your experience with us is nothing less than memorable.” You mean to say that your service is personal and that your staffs are service oriented? Oh please, the management office was supposed to be operating from 0900 hours and guess what, the office only opened at 0905 hours today. If you want to provide personalised service, go learn and pick up the right skills from the hospitality industry. And yes, my experience with you is nothing less than memorable because you have failed to address the issue.

Conclusion: I shan’t bother the management anymore regarding the parking issues because they don’t even have a solution and are expecting residents to come up with the game plan for them and then take credit for it. Anyhows, I’m leaving this shithole soon and I won’t have any more problems then.

Ps. pardon me for the seemingly harsh words because if you were in my shoes, you will feel the pinch of not being able to truly call the home that you bought with all your hard earned money a home that you can truly enjoy [to its fullest]. And if this blog entry has offended anyone, I do apologise.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This is going to be a rather negative blog post and through this blog entry, I am providing real direct feedback to the management committee of Clover By The Park Condominium.

Background
When I shifted to Clover By The Park Condominium in Bishan, I have heard that residents were upset with the shortage of car parking facilities in their own respective blocks as some units own more than 1 or 2 cars. Nevertheless, there has always been enough parking facilities for everyone residing in Clover By The Park Condominium because there is a basement carpark at the 2nd level which has tons of parking lots.

However, even though there are many parking lots available, there are a couple of residents whom are freaking lazy to walk and hence, park their cars in places that are not meant for parking! Despite repeated warnings not to park their cars in undesignated places, the freaking lazy residents continue to break the rules, citing that it was their right to park their cars at their own block. Like hello?! If you are early, then you get to park at your own block; but if you are late, then you can either park in another block or park at the basement 2 carkpark right?!

So, a month ago, a circular was issued by the management of Clover By The Park Condominium stating that only vehicles which are tagged to the system in the Guard House can park at the carpark and that other vehicles that are not tagged would have to find alternative parking areas. And by the way, only the 1st car of every unit can be tagged to the system and that the 2nd car has to ballot for a parking lot in order for it to be tagged to the system.

Guess what, the results of the ballot was just released two days ago and a total number of 75 2nd cars were allowed to be tagged to the system. Then, what about the rest of the units whom have 2nd cars too?

Previously, units with 2nd or 3rd cars can park their cars in the basement 2 carpark but now, with the new stupid policy of the management of Clover By The Park Condominium, only cars which are tagged to the system can park their cars at the carpark i.e. to say, only the 1st car of every unit and the 2nd car as well if they have been successful in the balloting.

The question now is this:

1). If there are more than enough parking lots, shouldn’t it be fully utilised?

2). If a resident insist on parking haphazardly in undesignated places, shouldn’t his/her car be wheel-clamped and fined?

3). Why is it that units with 2nd or 3rd cars can park in the basement 2 carpark previously, but are not able to do so now?

4). If a resident has to find alternative parking facilities in the nearby HDB vicinity, is the management going to be responsible for the parking costs?

Seriously, if the management of Clover By The Park Condominium tells me that there isn’t enough parking lots, then I have nothing to say. But look, here are pictures of the freaking empty carpark lots that I took at around 11pm. Don’t give me the crap and bullshit that a lot of residents return home at 1am or 2am in the morning on a weekday. Even if there are, it is just a handful and there are definitely ample parking lots that are not utilised.

Either way, I’m going to give the management of Clover By The Park Condominium a piece of my mind later in the morning with the other residents and I’m pretty sure it will be a good show. Meanwhile, I will have to put up with this shithole for a couple of days before I permanently move to my new shelter.

Pfft.!

The 1st ever Red Bull Flugtag Singapore 2012 that took place at the Siloso Beach, Sentosa was a resounding success!

Braving the hot blazing sun, Baby and I were there to cover the event; all thanks to the gracious invite from SPRG Singapore and Red Bull Singapore. We really had a lot of fun and we must admit, this has got to be one of the coolest events on earth!

In case you’re wondering what exactly is the Red Bull Flugtag, the Red Bull Flugtag challenges the brave and brainy to design, build and pilot home-made flying machines off a 6 metre high flight deck in hopes of soaring into the wild blue yonder… or more often, plunging into the waters below. Flugtag (pronounced floog-tag; noun), which means “flying day” in German, pushes the envelope of human-powered flight, but competitors need more than airtime to reach the podium. Teams are judged on three criteria: flight distance, creativity of the craft, and showmanship.

For the 1st Red Bull Flugtag Singapore 2012, the judging panel consisted of Paul Foster, Georgina Chang, Aide Iskandar, Rosalyn Lee, Felix Huang, Bobby Tonelli and Dee Kosh.

Have you ever had the craving for a cup of hot chocolate right in the middle of the night? Or do you simply desire to have a cup of hot chocolate for breakfast but find it a hassle to prepare it? Well, fret not because Cafédirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate is now available at major supermarkets such as Cold Storage, FairPrice Finest, Giant, Jasons and ThreeSixty Market Place!

Here’s just some background information about Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate:

Cafédirect

Cafédirect is a UK-based alternative trading organisation that is also UK’s first and largest 100% Fairtrade drinks brand. In case you’re wondering what an alternative trading organisation [ATO] is, an ATO is usually a non-governmental organisation or mission-driven business that is aligned with the Fair trade movement, aiming to contribute to the alleviation of poverty in developing regions of the world by establishing a system of trade that allows marginalised producers in developing regions to gain access to developed markets.

São Tomé

São Tomé Island

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

São Tomé is situated in the continent of Africa and it is the largest island of São Tomé and Príncipe [a country]. In fact, São Tomé is also known as the Chocolate Island and it is renowned for the high quality of its cocoa. Guess what, about 157,000 people live in São Tomé [as of 2009]. It was also the first place to which cocoa trees were brought from Brazil as decorative plants in 1822. The location of the island on the Equator, the fertility of the volcanic ground, and the perfect balance of temperatures, humidity, and forests of shade, explain the rapid spread of these tropical plants native to Mexico.

This is how cocoa beans are obtained.

Luxury Hot Chocolate
Luxury Hot Chocolate is a chocolate beverage that is hot and highly elegant [pun intended].

The reason why I am sharing the background information of Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate with all you readers is because most of the time, we as consumers never really bother finding out where our food and beverage products come from and why certain food and beverage products are priced more expensive than the others. It is only through understanding the background information that we learn to appreciate what we are eating or drinking.

So what is so special about the Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate?

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

First and foremost, to prepare a hot cup of chocolate with the Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate, all you have to do is just add hot water and stir it really well. There’s no need for sugar or creamer/milk. Now, I know some of you must be thinking, “Chey, I can even do it with Cadbury Drinking Chocolate, Swiss Miss Classics Marshmallow, or even Milo, so what’s the big deal?!”

For that, I will have to agree with you but if you’re the kind of person whom is extremely health conscious, then it is quite a big deal.

Now, let us compare the nutritional information of 4 different chocolate beverages.

Swiss Miss Classics Marshmallow

The serving size that is shown on the nutrition box for Swiss Miss Classics Marshmallow is 19g; hence, in order to standardise all measurements, the standard serving size that I will be using on my blog for comparison is 100g.

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

After conversion, the amount of calories and protein found in a 100g serving of Swiss Miss Classics Marshmallow is:
Calories- 368kcal, Protein- 10.5g

Milo

To be honest, having Milo as a comparison is pretty unfair because Milo is an energy cum nutritional chocolate malt drink. But since Milo is apparently everybody’s favourite hot beverage in the morning, I have included it for comparison.

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

The amount of calories and protein found in a 100g serving of Milo is:
Calories- 400kcal, Protein- 11.3g

Cadbury Drinking Chocolate

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

The amount of calories and protein found in a 100g serving of Cadbury Drinking Chocolate is:
Calories- 370kcal, Protein- 6.3g

Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate

From Cafedirect Sao Tome Luxury Hot Chocolate 2012

The amount of calories and protein found in a 100g serving of Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate is:
Calories- 342kcal, Protein- 14.8g

Of course, this comparison is only on the amount of Calories and Protein found in 100g of the 4 different chocolate beverages; hence, it is not meant to be exhaustive. Nevertheless, among the 4 different chocolate beverages that we have compared, Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate has the lowest calories but with the highest amount of protein. So, for all you chocolate lovers out there, you can truly indulge in your favourite hot chocolate beverage drink anytime anywhere with the Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate.

Here’s how to make your perfect cup of chocolate with the Cafédirect São Tomé Luxury Hot Chocolate.

Hello Everyone,
having used the LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone for more than 2 months now, it is time to say goodbye to the phone as I will be returning it to LG tomorrow.

Hence, this blog entry will be my concluding review of the LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone.

The LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone runs on the Android platform and due to its quad-core processor, running and installing applications are a breeze. In fact, the phone didn’t really pose much issues for me except for two; battery life span and quality of photographs taken with the camera.

On a single overnight charge, the phone could only last me till 6pm. The stuffs that I do with the phone everyday are checking emails, surfing the Internet for information, checking out Facebook and Twitter, occasionally taking photographs and uploading it to Instagram, and making phone calls. Hence, it is quite a disappointment that the phone’s battery isn’t as lasting as it claims to be.

Secondly, for a blogger like me, I more often than not would need to take photographs during events. Hence, a mobile phone that is equipped with a reasonable camera is important to me. However, the LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone Camera did not meet my expectations. In fact, I would really still prefer the iPhone 4GS Camera.

If the LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone has a longer battery life span and a better camera, I might consider purchasing the LG Optimus 4X HD Smartphone off the shelves. For now, I probably will put my phone purchase on hold till the Nokia Lumia 920 is launched.

Hello Everyone,
from the title of this blog post, I guess you readers would more or less know what I am about to rant soon.

Recently, I noticed some promoters whom were promoting the Diners Club Credit Card and I was quite surprised to find out that Diners Club has tie-ups with Nature’s Farm, JP Pepperdine, Raffles Marina Nautique, Long Beach, Courts, Sheng Siong, Delifrance, Secret Recipe, Mustafa, and HomeTeamNS! Yes, these are all rather popular brands that have a partnership with Diners Club and I personally feel that the reputation of these brands might soon be bogged down because of Diners Club [I will share why later on in this post].

Now, if you are approached by a promoter of Diners Club Credit Card or if you have any thoughts of applying for one, I am going to offer you one very good reason why you shouldn’t choose or apply for a Diners Club Credit Card.

The 1 very good reason why you shouldn’t choose or apply for a Diners Club Credit Card is because of their horrendously poor customer service!

Allow me to share my experience with you readers:

I have been a loyal supporter of Diners Club for a couple of years now and I usually do not have any issues with them. Things finally took a straw when I tried calling their credit card hotline a month ago. The reason why I called the credit card hotline was to check the available balance on my credit card and also to enquire how much was the outstanding amount I had to pay. To my disappointment, nobody picked up the phone at all and I tried calling the hotline for a number of days at varied timings. Still, nobody picked up the phone. Getting rather desperate, I went to Diners Club Website and called up every single number that was listed on their directory. Well, some calls were answered but my questions remained unanswered as my call was transferred to the “relevant department” but that “relevant department” did not pick up the phone at all.

Since my calls were never answered by that “relevant department”, I was really so angry that I fired an email to every email addresses that were listed on the Diners Club Website and guess what, it has been more than a month but nobody has replied till now. Now, I really wonder, if nobody is able and available to attend to a simple enquiry like mine, what happens if I lost my credit card? Surly I would be at the losing end right? If Diners Club can’t meet the interests of their customers, then what use would it be to the customers? Moreover, Diners Club Credit Card are not always accepted at all merchants and retailers either. Would you want to own a credit card that belongs to a credit card company that is slowly dying, whose cards are not widely accepted, and whose customer service level is horrendously poor? I certainly believe not.

In fact, you would definitely be much better off with Visa or MasterCard. The horrendously poor service by Diners Club certainly does no justice to the brand reputation of Nature’s Farm, JP Pepperdine, Raffles Marina Nautique, Long Beach, Courts, Sheng Siong, Delifrance, Secret Recipe, Mustafa, and HomeTeamNS.

I STRONGLY WILL NOT RECOMMEND Diners Club Credit Cards and if you readers are considering to get a Diners Club Credit Card, may I suggest that you consider alternatives such as CIMB Bank, May Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, DBS Bank, UOB Bank, and OCBC Bank?

I am so gonna terminate my Diners Club Credit Card soon and if you by any chance encountered a similar experience with Diners Club Credit Card, do feel free to comment on this blog post.

Hello Everyone,
yesterday was the day where Singaporeans whom have pre-ordered the iPhone 5 can finally lay their hands on one. Within the first 24 hours of its launch, two million iPhones have been ordered and the 3 telcos in Singapore have all since announced that the iPhone 5 were out of stock. Even Apple Premium Resellers like Nubox, Istudio, EpiCentre, and Juzz1 had reported that the iPhone 5 were completely sold out at all of their store locations.

I’m really wondering to myself; why is it that other mobile phone brands aren’t able to achieve the likes of Apple; considering the fact that every mobile phone brand has its own unique selling propositions? Personally, I have tried phones belonging to Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry, LG, Samsung, HTC, and Apple; and I found that each of these mobile phone brands have their own unique pros and cons.

Now, let us sit down and consider for a moment, the current top three operating systems for smartphones are Windows by Microsoft, iOS by Apple, and Android by Google. All 3 operating system have its own pros and cons and out of these 3 operating systems, there is no way we can say which is the better one out of the 3!

Hence, I really feel that consumers ought to really consider why they are bent on getting an iPhone. Is it because of the hype? Is it because of the phone design and features? Or is it because of peer pressure? Or worst still, is it because of our Singaporean “kiasu” [also known as “scared lose”] attitude? Whatever the reason may be, I hope that consumers will understand that all these anticipation are all due to the marketing tactics that Apple employ. Remember how hyped people were during the iPhone4S launch last year where Siri was like the best feature a smartphone could ever have on earth? Now, let me ask an honest question, “How many of us whom owns the iPhone4S actually uses Siri everyday or even frequently?” You don’t even have to tell me the answer because I probably can guess it.

The Over-Hyped iPhone4S Siri.

The Over-Hyped Iphone 5?

Well, for those of you who queued up but did not get the iPhone 5, fret not because it is not the end of the world yet and there will definitely be stocks coming in. Its not as if the iPhone 5 is a limited edition phone and even if you do get the phone yesterday, what could you do with it other than showing it off and sharing photos of you with it on your Facebook Wall? As what Mr. Brown said on Twitter, you do realise that after you get the phone, you still need to visit the Telco to change your SIM card to a Nano SIM card right? I’m sorry if this seems offensive but I’m not being a party-spoiler here because I do hope that we as consumers can be rational in our purchasing decisions and not indulge in impulsive buying behaviour. With that being said, I feel sorry for those of you whom queued up and waited really long at the stores of various Apple Premium Resellers only to find out that they were carrying only 20 sets of the iPhone 5. This is actually a similar marketing tactic that McDonald employs too; remember the Hello Kitty craze in 2000?

Long Lines of Queue for the iPhone 5?

Remember the McDonald’s Hello Kitty Craze in 2000?

Anyways, on a separate note, if you were to ask me what are the upcoming mobile phones that I am looking out for, it would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Nokia Lumia 920. If I ever do get the chance to do a product review on it, I would gladly love to.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Meanwhile, have a great weekend ahead and stay tuned to more updates from us!
