LG is always at the forefront of innovative technology breakthrough. In this year alone, we have attended numerous product launches by LG and we have seen how the company always strive to constantly be the best in the field of ‘Smart Technology’.
Now what exactly is Smart Technology and how does it apply to us in our daily lives?
In our own terms, Smart Technology serves to provide a proven time-saving specific function that is relevant to the user, and its efficiency and effectiveness to help improve our everyday lives can be measured. Simply put, products that incorporate Smart Technology are easy to use, intuitive, saves time, and provides convenience to users.
There are a couple of products such as mobile phones, television [TV], and home appliances from LG that incorporates the use of Smart Technology and one fine example is the LG Smart TV. In the olden days, the TV is only used for watching TV shows but long gone are those days because in today’s modern society, the TV is not just for watching TV shows but it can also perform a variety of functions such as internet browsing, content streaming, and even the downloading of games that can be played on the TV.
As such, we have highlighted 2 really wonderful features of the LG Smart TV that all TV-addicts would die for:
1. Time Machine II
With the newly updated version of the LG’s Time Machine feature, TV programmes can now be recorded and saved onto the TV’s built-in memory. Users can record a TV channel while watching a different channel [only available in LA8600]; record a TV channel while watching a Blu-ray title; or schedule to record a programme even when the TV is not switched on. With LG’s Time Machine feature, you don’t have to worry about missing any of your favourite TV programmes anymore!
2. LG TV Tag On [via NFC]
As the LG TV Tag On feature uses NFC [Near Field Communication] technology, it comes with a NFC sticker and requires the user to download the LG TV Tag On App from the Google Play Store on his/her NFC-enabled Android smartphone before the feature can work.
With the LG TV Tag On feature, it is now possible for users to perform content streaming between an NFC-enabled Android smartphone and the LG smart TV. Now, how this works is as such; assuming you are watching a video on the LG Smart TV and it so happens you have a pretty bad stomachache and you have to make a trip to the washroom. With the LG TV Tag On feature, you can now bring whatever you are watching on the LG Smart TV to your portable handheld NFC-enabled Android smartphone. All you have to do is place your smartphone on the NFC sticker and the TV content will appear on your smartphone for viewing!
Having shown you how the LG Smart TV helps you to live smartly with the Smart Technology that is incorporated; we will now be using the LG G Flex smartphone that was created and recently launched by LG as another example.
The LG G Flex is poised to create a new milestone in the smartphone revolution, incorporating proprietary innovations from other LG companies in the form of the display and battery.
Here’s how the LG G Flex [incorporated with Smart Technology] will bring about convenience and practicality to the everyday ‘lifestylists’!
Design
With the unique and vertically curved design of the LG G Flex, the distance between the user’s mouth and the microphone [when the device is held against the ear] is reduced and hence, optimised to deliver improved voice and sound quality. As a matter of fact, the LG G Flex curved design increases the sound level by 3 decibels as compared to typical flat smartphones. The LG G Flex curved design also offers a more reassuring grip and fits more comfortably in one’s back pocket.
In landscape mode, the display offers a cinematic experience to fit the contours of human’s eyes, providing users the most immersive and comfortable viewing angle for watching videos or playing games.

The LG G Flex also features the Rear Key function which was first introduced in the LG G2. Devoid of any buttons on the sides, there is less chance of accidentally powering off the phone and the convenience of using one’s index finger to adjust the volume when conversing is maintained.

LG Chem, a sister company of LG, developed the world’s first curved battery technology specifically for application in the LG G Flex. The curved battery in the G Flex is designed with LG Chem’s patented Stack & Folding technology, reducing the physical stress on the battery pack when in the curved form and provides better stability and performance. Despite its thin form, the LG G Flex battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh, enough power for more than a full day of use.
Features
The LG G Flex has an array of new features that will prove to be useful for consumers. Some of the new features include QuickTheater, a feature that gives users quick access to photos, videos and YouTube right from the lock screen; Dual Window, a feature that divides the wide 6-inch screen into two separate windows for more effective multitasking; Face Detection Indicator, a feature that displays the LED on the Rear Key in green to confirm the status of face detection and focus during self-shots using the rear camera.

Among the several new technologies incorporated into the LG G Flex, the LG G Flex is the first smartphone to apply a “Self-Healing” coating on the back cover. This elastic coating has the ability to recover from the daily wear-and-tear scratches and nicks that un-cased smartphones are likely to receive, helping it to maintain a brand-new look.
