Singapore Night Festival returns from 21 August to 5 September 2026, and if you are planning an evening around the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct, CHIJMES and Capitol Singapore are worth building into the route. This year’s theme is Myths & Legends, and the two heritage landmarks are approaching it in very different ways: one through large-scale visual storytelling, the other through a more hands-on, community-led programme.

At CHIJMES, the main draw is projection mapping. The organisers are describing the indoor showcase at CHIJMES Hall as Singapore’s first and largest indoor projection mapping experience, with the historic interior becoming part of the visual canvas. Exterior façade projections will continue the experience after dark, making this an easy stop even if you are moving between several Night Festival locations rather than staying for one long programme.

There are also a few activations planned on selected nights. These include an adidas Night Run Experience and a Neon Glow Art Jamming Workshop, giving the CHIJMES programme a little more range beyond simply watching the projections. If you are visiting with friends or as a couple, this is probably the livelier of the two stops.

Across the road, Capitol Singapore is taking a more tactile approach. Its Outdoor Plaza will be turned into a creative night market with live caricature portraits, henna art and handmade crafts. Local artist Natalia Tan will also present a large-scale community tapestry made from recycled materials, with members of the public invited to contribute to the work as it develops over the course of the festival.

That participatory element is what makes Capitol Singapore particularly interesting for families. There is something easier about being able to stop, look, make or add to something rather than moving children from one passive installation to the next. It also gives the programme a different pace from the projection-heavy experiences elsewhere in the festival.

The other reason this pairing works is geography. CHIJMES is at 30 Victoria Street while Capitol Singapore is at 13 Stamford Road, so both can be covered comfortably in the same evening. City Hall MRT is the most convenient starting point, and from there you can continue on foot through the wider Bras Basah.Bugis festival precinct.

If you are going specifically for one of the workshops, runs or selected-night activations, check the latest timings and registration details before heading down. If you are visiting more casually, however, the two venues make a straightforward pair: start around Capitol Singapore, cross over to CHIJMES as the projections come alive, then continue exploring the rest of Singapore Night Festival from there.
