Cordless vacuum cleaners have been around for quite a while now but many of them lack suction power and have a rather short battery life. However, cordless vacuum cleaners are highly portable and have an unlimited area of operation; just as long as there is a power socket available for charging.
Thanks to the kind sponsorship by Bosch Home Appliances, we were given a set of the new Bosch Athlet Cordless Vacuum Cleaner and it was a breeze to use. With a cleaning power of a 2,400 watt cylinder vacuum cleaner and a lasting performance of up to 60 minutes, there is everything to like about the Bosch Athlet Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.

The Bosch Athlet is the first cordless handstick vacuum cleaner to boast the proven SensorBagless Technology, a well-known feature on Bosch’s corded bagless vacuum cleaners. The Sensor Control performance monitoring function significantly reduces the level of maintenance required and it ensures maximum dust pick-up. When the filter cartridge requires cleaning, the automated sensors will light up.

One really awesome point to note about the Bosch Athlet is that it is extremely cost-saving. The efficient separator system is equipped with a powerful centrifugal force of air, which separates the dust, even before it hits the filter. The majority of the dust ends up in the dirt container and not in the filter, keeping the required maintenance to a minimum. There is no subsequent cost because the innovative lifetime filters from Bosch are washable and do not need to be replaced.

The dirt container is also very easy to remove and empty, even when full. This means that the Bosch Athlet delivers a thorough cleaning performance without any additional cost for bags and filter for the entire lifetime of the appliance.

Powered on Bosch Lithium-Ion Technology, the Bosch Athlet can vacuum up to 60 minutes on a full charge and it charges up to 75% in just three and a half hours. A three-stage, electronic protection system reliably prevents overcharging, overheating, and deep discharge.

Three level settings allow for different cleaning requirements; Level 1 for simple cleaning tasks at maximum run time, Level 2 for normal cleaning tasks at medium run time and Turbo Level for difficult cleaning tasks at short run time.

At approximately three kilograms, the Bosch Athlet is lightweight, and with its low centre of gravity and balanced ergonomics, it handles comfortably and can be used on all floor types. Yes all floor types! We used the Bosch Athlet to vacuum our tiles, marble floor, and even the carpet, and it works perfectly.

Our furkid is changing his puppy fur to an adult fur and as a result, he tends to drop a lot of fur on the marble floor and it can be quite difficult to spot the fur on the floor as they are of the same colour. However, we are pretty convinced that the Bosch Athlet is doing its job very well because when we are about to empty the dust container, we could see the fur being gathered into a neat and tidy ball.

Without a cord dragging behind it, the cordless Athlet can be used just about anywhere and stored away neatly in an instant. We highly recommend the Bosch Athlet for all your vacuuming needs because it does not compromise on performance with its strong suction power and lasting battery capability.

We have also used the Bosch Athlet to vacuum the dust, sand, leaves and hairs found in my car and it was slightly efficient in doing so. In fact, we have every intention to purchase the Accessory Kit which extends the versatility of this cordless wonder but we were informed that the Accessory Kit is not available for retail and it is a real pity because an extra-large upholstery nozzle would have enabled us to clean the furniture in a shorter time; while an extra-long crevice nozzle would have helped us to clean spots which are difficult to reach i.e. car interior.

With that being said, the Bosch Athlet Accessory Kit is given away complimentary when customers purchase the white model and it is only valid for purchases made before 31 December 2014. As for us, I guess we can only get the Bosch Athlet Accessory Kit from the Amazon Store.

Watch how the Bosch Athlet performs when it is put to the test at the Bosch lab.

The Bosch Athlet is currently available at all leading departmental and electrical stores island-wide for SGD$649. For more information about the Bosch Athlet, do check out Bosch Home Appliances Official Website.

There are many facial/skincare products that are available in the market and many of them can be easily bought off-the-shelf. I have personally tried a range of skincare products from reputable brands such as L’Oreal, Lab Series, Benta Berry, Pond’s, Laneige, and The Body Shop but none of them could compare to Herbalife SKIN in terms of value and quality.

I know many people may be sceptical about products from multi-level marketing companies but before coming out with this review, I have personally used Herbalife SKIN products for 7 months to ensure that the products we recommend on our blog is comparable or even better than what is available on the market.

Herbalife SKIN is a solution-based skincare nutrition that balances ingredients, botanicals, and extracts with proven science for a healthier-looking skin every day. I was first introduced to Herbalife SKIN during a media launch event and what really enticed me was that its products are paraben-free, sulfate-free, and dermatologist tested. Furthermore, the packaging of Herbalife SKIN is compact and easy to bring around when travelling.

Herbalife SKIN products are divided into 5 main categories, namely, Cleansers, Toner & Serum, Eye Gel & Eye Cream, Scrub & Mask, and Moisturisers & Creams.

For Cleansers, Herbalife SKIN offers two kind; the Soothing Aloe Cleanser and the Polishing Citrus Cleanser. I have personally tried both cleansers and if you have oily skin like me, I would definitely recommend the Polishing Citrus Cleanser over the Soothing Aloe Cleanser.

Polishing Citrus Cleanser, Retail Price: SGD$40.82

The Polishing Citrus Cleanser is exclusively formulated with Vitamin B3, antioxidants Vitamins C and E and Aloe Vera, Orange oil/Citrus oils, Grapefruit oil/Citrus oils, Apple-derived cleansing ingredients, Jojoba Esters, and it is vibrantly-scented with hints of juicy orange and grapefruit. Containing deep cleansing microbeads, it refreshes the skin for a healthy glow and is perfect for normal to oily skin. The Polishing Citrus Cleanser has also been clinically tested to show a reduction in the skin’s sebum after just one use.

If you are absolutely new to skincare and you are unsure about how to get started, my recommendation is to first get a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturiser. This would definitely help kick-start your daily facial regime.

Herbalife SKIN line of products are also numerically numbered so that you know which one to use in a sequential order from 1 to 5.

For Toners, Herbalife SKIN only offers one kind, the Energising Herbal Toner.

Energising Herbal Toner, Retail Price: SGD$30.98

The Energising Herbal Toner is an aloe vera-infused, alcohol-free, facial toner with Mandarin citrus scent that provides hydration to the skin and refreshes tired-looking skin. It is to be used in the morning and at night as it helps prepare the skin to better receive the serum and moisturisers for maximum results. The Energising Herbal Toner is exclusively formulated with Vitamins B3, antioxidants Vitamins C and E and Aloe Vera, and Potassium alum.

What I personally like about the Energising Herbal Toner is that it comes packaged in a spray bottle. Hence, to apply the toner, all I have to do is just spray it all over my face and pat dry.

For Moisturisers, there’s the Herbalife SKIN Daily Glow Moisturiser.

Daily Glow Moisturiser, Retail Price: SGD$69.18

The Daily Glow Moisturiser is an all-purpose hydrating lotion with illuminating properties to give the face a healthy glow. It has been clinically tested to show that the skin looks more glowing and feels softer and smoother in just seven days. This product is ideal for any occasion where you want your skin to look fresh and silky soft or when you just want some light-weight moisture. It is perfect for men and women and suitable for all skin types. The Daily Glow Moisturiser is exclusively formulated with Vitamin B3, antioxidants Vitamins C and E and Aloe Vera, Sunflower seed oil, Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract, Macadamia nut oil, Olive oil, and Sesame seed oil.

However, if you really want to fight the signs of aging, it is good to get started on a good daily skin care regimen that cleanses, treats, targets and protects your skin. Hence, I would recommend you to also get the Line Minimising Serum and the Firming Eye Gel.

Should you like to pamper your skin a little more, you can get the Instant Reveal Berry Scrub or the Purifying Mint Clay Mask to exfoliate and absorb excess oil respectively.

Herbalife SKIN line of products are suitable for both men and women and though the products are priced on the higher side, the Herbalife SKIN Basic Package which consist of 1 Soothing Aloe Cleanser, 1 Polishing Citrus Cleanser, 1 Energising Herbal Toner, 1 Daily Glow Moisturiser, and 1 Replenishing Night Cream cost only SGD$250.98. This is definitely way affordable than other skincare brands such as SK-II and the likes.

As for me, I will usually just get the Polishing Citrus Cleanser, Energising Herbal Toner, Line Minimising Serum, Firming Eye Gel, Daily Glow Moisturiser, and Replenishing Night Cream since I use them on a daily basis. I do have the Instant Reveal Berry Scrub and Purifying Mint Clay Mask but because I only use them only once or twice a week, I only purchase them on an adhoc basis.

Having used a number of skincare products from so many other brands that are available, I personally still prefer Herbalife SKIN. The quality is definitely top-notch and the natural scent of the product is very refreshing. I would definitely recommend this product if you have skin conditions as the results are pretty visible by the second week.

If you are interested to know more about Herbalife SKIN line of products, you can check out Herbalife SKIN Official Website and if you would like to get any of the skincare products, do feel free to drop by our e-retail store.

Last week, we were very privileged and honoured to meet with latest Tiger Uncage Personality, Quanda Ong, and he shared with us some really helpful advice about starting a business.

In case you are wondering what Tiger Uncage is all about, the campaign was started by Tiger Beer to salute young adults across Asia who dare to pursue their passions and overcome barriers that may hold them back from realising their full potential. Previous personalities who have been featured include molecular gastronomy Chef, Han Li Guang of Restaurant Labyrinth, and popular online comedians, Tree Potatoes.

Embodying the Uncage proposition, Quanda’s obsession with details and uncovering hidden design led him to kick-start his relentless journey through researching materials, designs, and manufacturers to launch his own collection. After three years of brainstorming, Quanda swapped his calculator for a ruler and shears; leaving his two and a half years in the banking industry to become a full time storyteller, or a ‘Master Talesmith’ as he calls it.

In the pursuit of making his dreams a reality, his brand, Gnome & Bow was brought to fruition through a crowd-funding appeal in 2013.

“Unsatisfied with my job in the private banking sector, I knew that I had to chart my career in something that was creatively fulfilling. With a natural instinct to protect me, both family and friends warned me against leaving the stability of a nine-to-five job, but looking back I could not be happier that I dared to take the plunge. I am so honoured and stoked to be recognised as an Uncage personality, and truly feel that my personal journey resonates strongly with Tiger’s proposition. As an independent designer, every day brings exciting opportunities, and I will use this as yet another fresh beginning”, shared Quanda Ong, Founder and Designer, Gnome & Bow.

When asked what advice he would give to budding entrepreneurs, Quanda Ong said, “It is very important to have the passion and drive for whatever you are about to embark. However, what is even more important is that you carve out your own unique selling point / niche area and differentiate yourself from others.” Quanda Ong also highly recommends the book, “What Color is Your Parachute 2015: A Practical Manual for Job-hunters and Career-changers” by Richard N. Bolles.

Having closed a chapter with its first collection based off a twist on Aesop’s Fables, Book I: The Hare & the Flying Tortoise, Gnome & Bow’s sophomore collection turns toward a darker and more poignant source – Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Drawing inspirations from a classic novella by the famed Scottish author, the collection explores and reinterprets the idea of duality, change and acceptance. The theory of a dichotomous human nature is explored and evident throughout the collection, with wallets and cardholders designed to showcase two contending faces of human nature: the rational, reserved side versus the wilder, more uninhibited inner self.

These two sides are represented by the two colours chosen for the collection – Deep-sea Blue embodies the classy and collected Dr. Jekyll, while Jungle Green characterises the spontaneous and thrill-seeking Mr. Hyde. This concept is especially synonymous with Tiger’s Uncage proposition, where the ‘cage’ represents one’s submission to societal norms at the cost of his/her passions and personal interests, and being ‘Uncaged’ celebrates our whimsical nature and unique motivations.

Crafted from full-grain US cow leather, Quanda Ong has designed an exclusive Tiger UNCAGE x Gnome & Bow cardholder in Deep-sea Blue. Evident on the outside is a loop stitching that is in signature Tiger orange, contrasting beautifully with the glossy blue exterior. Other story design elements include an emblazoned crest, symbolic of the uncanny semblance between a fountain pen and a tattoo gun.

An emblem that represents the coming together of two home-grown brands can be seen on the flipside, with a debossed quote from the novel that reads: “It is one thing to mortify curiosity, another to conquer it” when the cardholder is opened. The quote taken from the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde serves as a reminder for one to feed their uninhibited side and pursue their curiosities.

The collection that is once again designed to showcase Gnome & Bow’s pursuit for classic, elegant aesthetics whilst embracing the art of storytelling is available from 28 November 2014 on gnomenbow.com and selected stockists from SGD$125 onwards. The exclusively designed Tiger UNCAGE x Gnome & Bow cardholder will be available for sale at Keepers: Singapore Designer Collective and on Gnome & Bow.

As a way to reward its loyal fan following, Tiger Beer is also providing five lucky Facebook fans an opportunity to win the limited edition cardholders, encouraging fans to share how chasing their curiosity opened the door to a memorable experience for them. The competition will run from 28 November till 5 December 2014 so do check out Tiger Beer Singapore Official Facebook Page!

On a more personal note, we really like the wallets, name card holders, and bags that are creatively designed by Quanda Ong. The details of the design are very intricately and meticulously thought about and we are quite tempted to get the Linden Billfold Wallet from Gnome & Bow’s first collection, “The Hare & The Flying Tortoise” that cost SGD$185. Furthermore, the leather goods come packaged in Gnome & Bow’s Signature Storybook Box and that really makes it a perfect gift for loved ones.

Do check out and like Gnome & Bow’s Official Facebook Page for more details!

Japanese food lovers are in for a real treat as Japan’s number one online shopping mall, Rakuten, is bringing its renowned food festival, Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival, to Singapore for the first time. From 25 November 2014 to 4 December 2014, shoppers will be able to taste and experience Rakuten’s food offerings from all over Japan in an offline setting, at the newly-opened Japanese-themed WAttention Plaza at Jurong Point.

Since its inception in 2010, the largely popular food festival [known as Rakuten Umaimono Taikai in Japanese] has become one of the most anticipated food events in Japan.

The festival is Rakuten’s way of presenting the best of Rakuten’s online food merchants to shoppers in a retail environment, thus merging the offline world that customers live in and the online world that Rakuten operates in.

The 10-day festival will feature over 100 types of premium seafood, exquisite confectioneries, delicious desserts, and many other delectable delights from Hokkaido, Yokohama, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Shizuoka.

Food enthusiasts will be introduced to a variety of new-to-Singapore specialty products presented by 11 merchants from Rakuten Ichiba in Japan and many of them are award-winning and have received accolades; including Rakuten Japan’s ‘Shop of the Year’ award.

In this blog post, we will be shortlisting 3 merchants that you ought to check out at Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival!

1. Tsukiji Ryotel Takewaka

Established for over 20 years, Tsukiji Ryotel Takewaka sources fresh and seasonal seafood from Tokyo’s renowned Tsukiji market for their products. Its chirashi bowls are intricately packaged by masterchefs in the style of parfaits, a visual treat that enhances the taste of freshness with every spoonful.

Also known as the Japanese Seafood Parfait, the chirashi is made with premium Japanese rice, topped with ikura [salmon roe], salmon, and tuna belly. With the colourful mix of seafood and vegetables, diners can even replace chopsticks with spoons to enjoy the savoury seafood parfait to the fullest.

2. Sasaya Syoen

Founded in 1918, Sasaya Syoen is deeply rooted in tradition with its handmade sweets. The sugar is expertly pulled by its confectioners to give a real and authentic taste. The warabi mocha is one of its most popular products, along with other seasonal pastries and sweets, which are all ideal as snacks and gifts.

Using the finest bracken powder produced domestically, each bracken rice cake is exquisitely handemade by a master Kyoto confectioner and it will melt in the mouth. We highly recommend that you dip the warabi mochi in some soybean powder and it will make a perfect treat.

3. Ginza Sembikiya Patisserie

Founded in 1894, Ginza Sembikiya was originally a fruit specialty store. In the 1960s, it began developing creative methods for people to enjoy tasting fruits while remaining loyal to the shop’s dedication to using only quality premium fruit products. The result is artisan fruit-infused confectioneries, which very quickly became a hit among locals, as well as tourists looking to bring back omiyage [souvenirs] for their friends and loved ones.

Using only Fuji apples produced in Japan, its attentive confectioners ensure that the tartness and sweetness of the apples are retained. The apples are simmered to perfection to a texture as smooth as silk. Flavoured with a hint of cinnamon, the apple filling is encased in Ginza Sembikiya’s interpretation of a baumkuchen, a layered cake originating from Germany.

Our Personal Opinion/Review of Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival 2014

Though the Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival is held at Jurong Point, this is truly one gourmet festival that foodies shouldn’t miss because there are many new-to-Singapore food and beverage product offerings. Our recommendation is that you bring at least SGD$50 as some of the food and beverage products can be priced on the higher side [after all, some of the food and beverage products are specially imported all the way from Japan]. Should you not have enough spare cash, some of the merchants do accept credit cards.

If you are looking for some specialty products from Japan, the Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival is a must-go!

Editor’s Update (22/October/2016):
We recently got to know Paul Gian, a Singaporean GIA Diamonds Graduate and he has a very interesting resource on choosing the perfect diamond ring for that very special occasion. We have curated his content and his real-life experiences with diamonds is certainly worth a read. For the gentlemen who are largely clueless about diamonds and such; we highly recommend that you check out his site at http://beyond4cs.com/ as it is very comprehensive and it will give you all the information that you need to know when you purchase a diamond ring.

What we really like about Beyond4Cs is the fact that Paul offers a free diamond guide Ebook and he has gone on to write reliable reviews about online jewellery stores that he recommends. You should really browse his site before burning a big hole in your pocket on diamonds which are not worth the money!

We were introduced to JannPaul Diamonds some time ago and it is really a big pity that we haven’t got to know them earlier because if not, we would have just customised our wedding bands there!

Established in 2009, JannPaul was started by three friends, two of whom are second-generation diamond specialists with families already in the jewellery industry. With noble efforts in wanting to educate the general public on diamonds and to squash the myths that come with the luxury price tag, the partners behind JannPaul have banded together in the hopes of realising their common passion. As the ‘mythbusters’ of the local diamond industry, JannPaul is best known for their unique concept of providing Diamond Education Sessions to their clients in their selection of Super Ideal Cut Diamonds, lasting from 1.5 to 2 hours each session. These non-obligatory sessions serve to educate potential clients on common mistakes that they make when choosing diamonds and as well as provide some helpful tips on diamond procurement.

Casey Lai, a man knowledgeable in the ‘science’ behind diamonds gave us a very thorough insight to choosing diamonds and we now know more than just the 4Cs of diamond basics. We were introduced to the Holloway Cut Adviser, the ASET Scope, and the Ideal Scope. With these 3 tools combined with the knowledge of the 4Cs, one would be able to procure the best diamond that is wallet-friendly.

Holloway Cut Adviser

The Holloway Cut Adviser estimates a round diamond’s appeal based on its potential Light Return, Fire, Scintillation, and Spread. Most people prefer stones that rate 1-2 on a scale where 0-2 is Excellent, 2-4 Very Good, 4-6 Good, 6-8 Fair, and 8-10 Poor.

You will need Total Depth %, Table % and Crown degree and Pavilion degree angles from AGS and 2006 GIA and IGI reports.

Holloway Cut Adviser gets no info on symmetry, polish and minor facets; use it only to reject likely bad performing diamonds to narrow down your final selection.

ASET Scope

The ASET Scope tells us where the reflected light from the diamond is coming from. Blue is directly overhead, green is from low angles, and red is in the middle. The ASET Scope is the preferred tool for evaluating fancy cut diamonds.

Ideal Scope

The Ideal Scope reveals areas of the light return, leakage, and obscuration of the diamond. It is easy to use and all you have to remember is that red is desirable and indicates light return while diamonds with too much white areas indicates problems with light leakage. The Ideal Scope is the preferred tool for evaluating round diamonds.

Had we known about all these 3 tools earlier, we would have made a more informed choice when buying diamonds. So for all you guys out there, do make use of these 3 tools when you are shopping for the engagement ring!

Most jewellery stores in Singapore may not have the ASET Scope or Ideal Scope and even if they have, they might not tell you and at most, they will only show you the Hearts & Arrows Scope. You can purchase an ASET Scope or an Ideal Scope from this website and have it shipped to Singapore.

However, if you don’t want to spend too much time evaluating diamonds, you might want to consider JannPaul’s Super Ideal Cut Diamond that is cut in mathematical proportions in which every facet is placed at the exact angles to create a perfect balance between optimum brilliance and the scattering of light.

As one of the first local jewellers to incorporate 3-dimensional technology for their ring customisation service, JannPaul is able to formulate realistic images of the ring before manufacture. This also allows for clients to try on life-size wax replicas of the ring, making the customisation process a breeze for anyone, and especially first-time engagement ring buyers. A cut above the rest, JannPaul does not place limitations on the number of customisation changes on their rings and instead look towards servicing and satisfying their client’s needs.

With one of the widest selection of the extremely popular Hearts and Arrows diamond cuts in Singapore, JannPaul boasts a range including the Solasfera, Cushion Brellia, Angel Cut, and Brilliant Lady diamond cuts. JannPaul’s latest collection is the Verragio Rings which features very beautiful and intricate designs that will certainly wow the ladies.

With an increasing clientele base, JannPaul is gaining in popularity both locally and internationally; and for a fair price, JannPaul is definitely the place for excellent quality diamonds! For more information and updates from JannPaul, do like JannPaul’s Official Facebook Page and if you would like to learn more about diamonds, do check out JannPaul’s Official Website!

ASUS has recently unveiled 12 new premium and innovative products at the “In Search of Incredible” press event and one of which is the ASUS EeeBook X205. We were very privileged to have been given the opportunity to review the ASUS EeeBook X205 and we decided to craft this blog post using this incredibly slim notebook.

Our First Impression of the ASUS EeeBook X205

At the first impression, the ASUS EeeBook X205 has a very simple and elegant design. It is extremely slim, lightweight, and highly portable. Just so you know, the ASUS EeeBook X205 measures 17.5mm at its thickest point and weighs only 980g. The non-removable battery is built into the ASUS EeeBook X205 and at the sides are the charging port, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 Micro HDMI, 1 MicroSD Card Slot, and an Audio Jack.

Our Personal Opinion/Review of the ASUS EeeBook X205

Over the course of the review, we found the ASUS EeeBook X205 to be such an ideal notebook that we are considering to purchase it for our personal usage. The ASUS EeeBook X205 fits snugly into our camera bag and it is so convenient to bring around whenever we travel from places to places for events.

Being on-the-go all the time, it is such a hassle for us to be lugging our 15.6-inch HP Envy 15 notebook that weighs more than 2KG and the ASUS EeeBook X205 has proven itself to be a very suitable alternative notebook that allows us to blog, read, research, edit photos, and stay connected!

We are also extremely impressed with the long battery life of the ASUS EeeBook X205 because it allows us to work for more than 10 hours without having the need to search for a power outlet. However, having said so many positive things about the ASUS EeeBook X205, there is certainly room for improvement. It would have been awesome if the ASUS EeeBook X205 comes with a touchscreen display and though it is easy to carry around, the ASUS EeeBook X205 is definitely not for the hardcore gamer. We tried doing some intense image and video editing on the ASUS EeeBook X205 and it was slightly lagging.

Typing on the ASUS EeeBook X205 also needs some getting used to as we found it a little crammed and narrow for our fingers.

If ASUS were to improve the ASUS EeeBook X205 further, we believe that it will be quite a hit with students and working professionals.

The ASUS EeeBook X205 comes in four different colours, elegant white, champagne gold, shadow black, and urban red. You can either opt for the 32GB or 64GB storage and though there is no official release date and pricing available at this point in time, rumour has it that the ASUS EeeBook X205 should be available in the market in the next few months with a starting price of around SGD$325. If you are into cloud computing, the ASUS EeeBook X205 is the best device for it as it includes 115GB of OneDrive and 500GB Webstorage free for 2 years.

For more information and updates about the ASUS EeeBook X205, do like the ASUS Singapore Facebook Page.

We were recently invited to a game of Wongamania with other bloggers and through the interactive card game, all of us had a very engaging and fulfilling time learning about asset management under different economic market cycles. Designed by independent games studio, Capital Gains LLP, Wongamania contains 143 cards with 53 uniquely designed artwork and interactive content that makes learning about economics, assets, taxes, and interest rates, fun and interesting. The card game can accommodate 2 to 6 players.

What We Think About Wongamania?

In all honesty, we are so glad that this game was created because it allowed us to learn how the different economic market cycles can hinder our ability to accumulate assets and understand what kind of assets would allow us to have an advantage over others in a given economic market cycle.

The 3 basic types of assets that are used in in Wongamania are stocks, properties, and bonds; and in Wongamania, players would be able to learn about these assets and how they can leverage on them to accumulate wealth! What is true for Wongamania is also true in real life application because the financial-savvy Singaporean would probably invest in these 3 assets to accumulate wealth for retirement! However, despite investing in these 3 assets, many people do not really understand how the economic market cycle can affect their investments and hence, often do not see the returns that they expected.

A game of Wongamania can take between 30 to 60 minutes; depending on how players intend to outwit and outthink one another so as to survive the trials and tribulations that the financial markets throw at them. The following picture shows three opportunity cards that players can utilise to sabotage other players.

The learning curve of the game might be slightly steep for new players but with more practise and getting used to, Wongamania is indeed a very challenging but fun card game. We definitely recommend this game to all teenagers and adults who would like to learn about the principles of economics and investments.

If you are a big fan of the Rich Dad Cashflow Classic Game, we are quite sure you would love and enjoy Wongamania! In fact, it is even more fun than the Monopoly Deal Card Game!

To purchase the Wongamania Card Game at an exclusive price of SGD$30, you can check out the Wongamania Crowdtivate Event but do hurry as the closing date is on 14 November 2014. Should you miss out on the Wongamania Crowdtivate Event, do like Capital Gains Group Facebook Page for more updates so that you can be kept informed about the official release date of Wongamania and where you can purchase it.

In addition to indulging in freshly shucked oysters, Wagyu beef, and gourmet sausages, visitors can also enjoy wine tastings, live jazz performances, and interactive games during the event.

Wine connoisseurs can look forward to sampling new and exclusive labels such as Terra Vega from the award-winning Chilean wine producer Luis Felipe Edwards, while beer lovers can anticipate the arrival of the limited edition and highly sought-after Rekorderlig Winter Brew, which is making its first appearance in Singapore at the event.

This is the first time Cold Storage is organising a live gourmet event of such a scale in a shopping mall and there will be many special offers that visitors can look forward to.

What We Think Of “Flavours of the World” Event?

It is truly a world-class “Flavours of the World” event as we saw many food and beverage brands and products from all over the world. We enjoyed ourselves very much and it was a very delightful time to indulge in some freshly shucked US oysters that are going for SGD$15 for 6 pieces.

The tantalising and exclusive Hoegaarden Rosée beer is also available on tap at the event and you have to try it because this raspberry infused Belgian white beer is very refreshing!

Just in case you are wondering, you will be able to purchase the Hoegaarden Rosée beer can for the coming Christmas season and it is only exclusively available on-the-shelf in Cold Storage.

There are also quite a number of special offers for wines, beers, and ciders, and with Christmas just 2 months away, it is a pretty apt time to stock up on some booze and end the year with a big bang.

We also bought some chips that are exclusively available at Cold Storage and if you are a big fan of truffle fries, the Torres Black Truffles Chips is simply irresistible!

As the event is open to public, the walkways might be a little tight and crammed but it is all worth the effort because there are many remarkable offers that are truly a first! If you are a UOB Cardholder, you will be entitled to a 5% rebate on all spending.

“Flavours of the World” will be ongoing from now till 2 November 2014 at Plaza Singapura’s Main Atrium on Level 1 from 10am to 10pm daily. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get some awesome deals!

Editor’s Update [as of 2 April 2015]:
Anjalichocolat Artisan Chocolatier has shifted to 73 Loewen Road, #01-15 & #01-16, Singapore 248843.

Despite the distance that we have to travel to get there, PasarBella is no stranger to us as we have been there so many times for the fresh seafood and fine wines. This time round, we chanced upon Anjalichocolat Artisan Chocolatier at PasarBella and we can’t wait to share about this awesome find that will delight all chocolate connoisseurs!

We had a casual meet up with Anjali, the owner of Anjalichocolat, and we were treated to an indulgent chocolate and wine pairing session. When chatting with Anjali, we found out that she left her illustrious career in the banking sector to pursue her passion in chocolates and since then, she has been in the kitchen experimenting with chocolates. We even discovered that Anjali has successfully incorporated blue cheese into chocolate truffles!

Our Personal Opinion/Review of Anjalichocolat

Anjali handmade every single piece of chocolate and they are a real treat. The ingredients used in making the chocolate come from Belgium and there are absolutely no preservatives or additives added. The luscious chocolate melts in the mouth and the assortment of flavours that are available will tickle the tongue. Our personal favourite is the Salted Caramel Bonbons and it is so rich and very satisfying that one serving isn’t enough!

Though the chocolates from Anjalichocolat are premium-priced, it is definitely more value-for-money as compared to chocolates from Godiva and the like. When we brought home some Toasted Almond Rochers which cost only SGD$18 a pack, our family members absolutely loved it and they finished the entire pack within minutes.

Anjali is also able to handmade and customise chocolates for corporate gifting. If you are looking for a suitable gift for your clients, you might want to consider giving chocolates as it is a natural stress-reliever that makes people happy.

Lastly, here are some tips which we picked up from Anjali herself. Buy chocolates to eat, not to keep. If you want to keep and store chocolates, the wine chiller is the best place for it but do note that it can only keep up to a maximum of 2 weeks. Should you have the desire to indulge in a little pampering treat, you can pair the chocolates with some sweet wine like the Italian Moscato D’Asti and we guarantee that you will have a bubbly chocolatey time!
