Hello Everyone,
thanks to OMY.SG and Nestle Singapore, I was very honoured to be given the opportunity to try out Nestle’s latest product- the Milo Easy Cool!

Well, Milo has been a long-standing and well-established household brand that it is no surprise that they are still around till this day! In fact, since I was born, Milo has become an essential part of my daily life that I simply have to drink it every morning before I head off to school [in the past], and now, to work. Now, why Milo and not other beverage like coffee or tea? Well for me, I choose Milo simply because it is gentle on the stomach, and it gives me the necessary vitamins and minerals that I need to start off the day. It is also a fantastic recovery drink especially when I fall sick. Hence, I love Milo so much that I drink it twice a day, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon.

Now, what’s the big fuss about Milo? Well, in case you didn’t know, Nestle has just launched their latest product, the Milo Easy Cool!

If you ask me what exactly is so cool about this product, I only have this to tell you, its just simply cool. In the past, whenever we want a cup of cold Milo, we have to scoop the Milo Powder into a cup, add about 1/2 cup of hot water to it, and then stir it [so that the powder can dissolve], top it up with plain water till the cup is 3/4 full, and finally, add some ice cubes! Another way of making a cup of cold Milo would be to use the same method as the above but instead of using ice cubes, you put the hot cup of Milo into the refrigerator to chill it for half an hour.

Well, you might be wondering, instead of adding hot water to the Milo Powder, can’t we just add cold water to it directly? The answer is this, if you try adding cold water, you will observe that the Milo Powder will form small lumps and that it won’t be well-dissolved and well-mixed. [no matter how many times you may try to stir it] Hence, the quality and the smoothness of the Milo drink is slightly affected if you add cold water directly.

However, here is a piece of good news for everyone! Nestle’s latest product- the Milo Easy Cool has been launched and with its refined recipe, it allows you to make a cup of cold Milo simply by just adding cold water to it! It’s just that easy and it’s hassle-free!

Is there a difference between the traditional Milo and the Milo Easy Cool? Yes there is!

Just take a look at the photos that I put up for comparison between the Milo Easy Cool and the Milo Fuze 3-In-1

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

Here’s a close up photo of the Milo Easy Cool when I opened the sachet and poured it into a dish

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

Here’s a close up photo of the Milo Fuze when I opened the sachet and poured it into a dish

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

Ok, I am not sure how much you can tell the difference between the 2 photos as shown above but if you do noticed, the texture of the Milo Easy Cool is much more smoother than the Milo Fuze which is more rough and coarse in texture. To test the main difference between the two types of Milo, I added cold water to test its solubility and here are the results:

The Milo Easy Cool easily reacts with the water upon contact and you could see that there isn’t any huge lumps formed or cluttered up.

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

However, for the Milo Fuze, you will notice that there are patches of Milo Powder clumped up together.

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

Here’s a short video of what happened when I shook both dishes and tried to get the water to dissolve as much Milo powder as it could. On the left is the Milo Easy Cool and on the right is the Milo Fuze:

After getting the water to cover most of the layer, I then drained the water and here’s the end result:

You will see that the Milo Easy Cool has thick swirls of creamy liquid and does not contain much lumps

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

Whereas for the Milo Fuze, you will see that its more solid than liquid.

From Milo Easy Cool 2012

With this simple experiment, one can tell that there is indeed a huge difference between the Milo Easy Cool and the traditional Milo; which in this case, it proves that the Milo Easy Cool is very soluble in cold water and offers convenience in making a cup of cold milo with no change in the quality of the drink.

The MILO® Easy Cool is now available at all leading supermarkets and hypermarkets such as FairPrice, Cold Storage, Shop N Save, Giant, Carrefour and Sheng Siong; and it is retailed at S$6.30 per pack of 15 sachets, which works out to be S$0.42 per sachet! And to top it off, just for the month of February, there’s a promotional pack where you can get a free MILO® Easy Cool Shaker Bottle!

Hello Everyone,
from the title of this entry, you can very much guess that this post is going to be about the Singapore Zoo!

Well, Baby and I have had the intention to visit the Zoo and we wanted to do so in the coming months but however, because of some changes in our plan, we forgo the Singapore Airshow 2012 and visited the Zoo instead.

Let me see, the last time I’ve been to the Zoo was a really long time ago [like more than 12 years] and the reason why we wanted to visit the Zoo is so that we could see how much the Zoo have changed and to relieve the memories of our childhood! You see, in this rather fast-paced society where the busyness of work engulfs a person, it is very important that one learn how to make use of nature to calm the soul and do some self-reflection. In fact, when Baby and I visited the Zoo, we were so intrigued by the playfulness of the animals that it brought to our attention that there’s more to life than work and career. At the zoo, we saw how the animals protected one another and how they socialised with one another, and sometimes, even the animals themselves seem to know how to love and care for one another unconditionally. This is hence the reason why I hope that through this blog entry, you would be inspired and challenged to visit the Zoo, although you might feel that there might be nothing much for you to look at!

The following photos that you see are taken by Baby using a Canon Ixus 300 HS camera and they have been edited by me.

This is one of the best pictures that Baby has taken during our visit to the Zoo! Look at the distinct rain drops on the flower petals and leaves.

From Zoo Trip 2012

Food is really costly at the Zoo! In fact, I would highly recommend you to prepare your own food [could be sandwiches, biscuits, chips and etc.] so that you could bring them to the Zoo and consume them. Here are just some of the F&B Outlets at the Zoo.

From Zoo Trip 2012
From Zoo Trip 2012

So, well, in order to save money, Baby and I shared the Chicken Roasta Set Meal from KFC! We had no choice eh, cause the only fast food outlet they have there is KFC! And moreover, their KFC is unlike other outlets you find in town where they have a wide variety of items on their menu. The Zoo’s KFC is rather costly and limited in menu items.

From Zoo Trip 2012
From Zoo Trip 2012

Planning is inevitable if you want to have a smooth day at the Zoo! So here I am planning the itinerary for the day.

From Zoo Trip 2012

For some reason, Baby likes to associate me with the Monkeys or any other animals, as long as they are hairy-looking.

Some souvenirs from the Gift Shop that is centred on the theme of Valentine’s Day

From Zoo Trip 2012

Oh, and then near the entrance of the Zoo, we actually had the opportunity to catch these cute little Cotton Top Tamarin.

From Zoo Trip 2012

This picture is really cute! Here, you can see one of the Tamarin [which I assume is a male] scratching the back of the female Tamarin [I presume its a female because you can see that it’s carrying a Baby Tamarin on its neck]

Here’s a photo of us taken by the Zoo Photographers and I think their skill is not that bad!

From Zoo Trip 2012

Here’s a photo of Baby with a really antique Land Rover. She looks really sweet here ah!

From Zoo Trip 2012

This isn’t a Crocodile and neither is it an Alligator. I tried to bluff my way to Baby that this is an Alligator but alas, she found the signboard that says “False Gharial

From Zoo Trip 2012

Ok, I don’t know why its called a False Gharial but it has been around since the Dinosaur era. Amazing eh!

From Zoo Trip 2012

And so, halfway while we were walking around the Zoo, it started to pour really heavily and well, this brave and adventurous family didn’t mind the rain and I really like their positive spirit!

From Zoo Trip 2012

As we didn’t wanted to waste any time and the Zoo entrance fees which cost us a total of $40, we braved the rain by putting on our raincoats! [yes, Baby brought it along with her just in case it rain]

From Zoo Trip 2012

Oh, here’s Baby trying to act like Kenny from South Park.

From Zoo Trip 2012

The Otters were really cute as we saw them swimming in the waters and performing somersaults!

An interesting fact about Otters.

And yes, we managed to catch the lovely Tigers! They look really sweet together side-by-side.

An interesting fact about hippos! A Baby Hippo weights more than a normal adult human being!

And then we went to the 1st show of the day, which was called the “Rainforest Fights Back“! So, as you can see, this Singaporean man was arrowed to be part of the show.

I don’t know why but the Zebras just love showing their butts to us.

At least this Zebra was so willing to pose for a photo with me but… where is its tail?

From Zoo Trip 2012

If you have watched the Lion King Movie, you would very much associate it with Pumba, the Warthog. And eh, no, it’s not friendly.

From Zoo Trip 2012

Ok, I forgot what this animal is called. But if I’m not wrong, its called the Meerkat, which is the friend of Pumba known as Timon in the Lion King movie.

From Zoo Trip 2012

Alright, Baby skillfully caught this shot and it’s quite heart-warming actually. The Meerkats were initially fighting but after sometime, they start to “hug” one another and you can see this particular Meerkat “smiling” away.

Do you know that the neck of an African Giraffe is longer than that of an Asian Giraffe?

From Zoo Trip 2012

Our last show for the day before we left the Zoo. Quite entertaining actually!

From Zoo Trip 2012

Our worn-out and dirty slippers after a day of walking in the rain! But well, it was all worth it! To all foreigners and Singaporeans whom are planning to visit the Zoo, I suggest you wear a pair of slippers than a pair of shoes because you don’t want to get your shoes wet if it rains.

Baby thinks that I belong to the kids club and hence shot a picture of me with tons of kids in the background.

And so… we ended our trip to the Zoo happily and can’t wait for the new developments in the Zoo that will be coming up! In fact, they are in the midst of constructing the River Safari where Pandas will be featured! For now, we are really satisfied with this trip and we hope that it would stir you to visit the Zoo with your family and loved ones.

Hello Everyone,
thanks to my lovely parents, Baby and I were invited and treated to the movie, “The Wedding Diary“.

This movie was released on the 9th of February and for those of you whom have yet to catch it, I highly recommend this movie for some light-hearted and heartwarming moments! This movie is especially suitable for courting couples, married couples or even for a gathering of friends and family members.

The movie plot [as extracted from Insing.com]: “The Wedding Diary” follows Daniel (Aniu), an engineer from a humble Malaysian Hokkien family, and Tina (Elanne Kwong) a beauty from a wealthy Singaporean Cantonese family who decides to get hitched. What ensues is then a hilarious set of problems involving both their families and the countless arising differences between the Singaporean, Malaysian, and also Hokkien and Cantonese cultures.

My personal view of the movie:

The Wedding Diary is hilarious and the story as portrayed in the movie carries with it some truth about marriage/wedding. The leading actor and actress were very compatible in their roles and the movie is so heartwarming that you might even shed a tear or two! But don’t worry, the ending of the movie is not those soapy sad kind! If you understand both Hokkien and Cantonese and their cultures, it would also be to your advantage. But if you don’t understand, fret not as there are English subtitles available. If you’re thinking of catching a movie but have no clue as to what to watch, catch the Wedding Diary and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with it.

Here’s the Movie Trailer:

and here’s the theme song of the movie which both Baby and I really enjoyed listening to:

Hello Everyone,
this might perhaps be the first Disney movie of the year that I would definitely love to catch. Having watched the movie trailer, I found the plot to be rather interesting as the film tells the story of a war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Well, if I ever found myself on Mars now, a stranger in a strange new land, the first thing that I perhaps would do would be to gather resources for survival! I guess this would be the most ideal thing to do especially when you are in a strange new land for the very first time! If you’re into sci-fi adventure movies, you might want to consider watching this one.

Catch John Carter in cinemas this 8 March 2012 and like the Official Disney Studios Singapore Facebook Page and follow @DisneystudiosSG on Twitter!”

Hello Everyone,
in today’s blog entry, I would like to bring your attention to the Bugis Street Art Project 2012 that is happening at Bugis Junction Shopping Centre from 08 February to 19 February. [Though this featured event is only around for 12 days; be sure not to miss this event because once you miss it, you would have missed a great photo opportunity with Joe’s [the artist] 3D art pieces!

About This Event:

This event is organised and managed by the National Heritage Board and for this particular event, it features internationally renowned street artist, Joe Hill, who will be bringing his brand of interactive 3-Dimensional artworks to the Bras Basah Bugis Precinct. These new artworks are inspired from the heritage and museums of the precinct and promise to a visual spectacle that will be exciting and fun for all ages! Joe will be on-site creating his artwork from 8 – 10 February 2012, so catch him live in action from 8 – 10 Feb 2012 from 1030-1330 and 1430-1700 as he adds the finishing touches to these visual spectacles.

Who is Joe?

He is an international renowned street artist who currently holds the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest and the World’s Longest 3D artwork.

So after all the photo-taking, I interacted with Joe and had a mini conversation with him. Through the conversation, he shared that each of the art piece [All Aboard and Scaling the Dome] took him 3 days to complete! So meaning to say, he spent about 6 days creating these two masterpieces and he started creating them since last week! Well, I also found out from him that he has been to all over the world except for Africa. [He probably might have an opportunity to create his masterpiece there soon!] And well, Joe is definitely a friendly, down-to-earth kinda person. It was really nice chatting away with him and well, if you are free from 8 – 10 February 2012, do catch him live in action from 1030-1330 and 1430-1700 as he adds the finishing touches to these visual spectacles. And just for your information, this is Joe’s second time to Singapore and I’m not sure when he would be showcasing his artwork in Singapore again. Trust me, you don’t want to be disappointed!

Hello Everyone,
I caught the movie, “Chronicle’ last Sunday with Baby, my siblings, and my cousins; and I must say this, please don’t waste your money watching this movie. Just when I thought that I was the only one who dislike this movie, all 6 of us agreed that watching this movie was a total waste of money and time.

Well, personally, one could tell that this is a budget film. Though there were many positive reviews given by critics for its fresh perspective, I would say that this film hasn’t entirely captured my attention as the storyline is predictable and overly exaggerated. If you watched the movie, I think you might agree with me that the last part was pretty stupid because of the way the antagonist died. The movie also ended very abruptly and its probably because they have ran out of ideas. By watching the movie trailer as shown below, you would have watched 80% of the movie content already.

About The Film [as extracted from Wikipedia]
Chronicle is a 2012 science fiction film directed by Josh Trank and written by Max Landis based on a story by both Trank and Landis. It stars Dane DeHaan, Michael B. Jordan, and Alex Russell as a group of Seattle friends who gain powerful superhuman abilities and use them for mischief and personal gain until one of them begins to use his powers for darker purposes. The film was released on February 1, 2012 in the United Kingdom and Ireland and was released in the United States and India on February 3, 2012. It received positive reviews from critics.

Hello Everyone,
Baby and I recently caught the movie, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” at Shaw NeX and to be honest, the movie wasn’t really fantastic. If you ask for my honest opinions, don’t catch the movie because it is a total waste of money.

The storyline was quite imbalanced and there were a lot of scenes that somehow just didn’t gel the whole plot properly. So, I don’t really recommend you to watch this movie unless you have spare cash and spare time.

The Official Movie Plot [as obtained from Wikipedia] is as follows:

Sean Anderson is caught by police escaping from a satellite research center where he was attempting to access a signal broadcast that was too faint to pick up outside of the facility. Escorted home by his stepfather, Hank Parsons, he eventually reveals that the mysterious broadcast he was attempting to access was a set of indistinguishable words that he is trying to decode. Hank, in an attempt to bond with his stepson, solves the code which eventually reveals the co-ordinates for the Mysterious Island, which were hidden in three novels- Treasure Island, Gulliver’s Travels and Verne’s Mysterious Island. Sean believes that his long lost grandfather was the one behind the transmission, and that he has discovered the island. Sean and Hank immediately set out for the island of Palau. Both Hank and his wife, Liz, don’t believe anything that Sean is convinced of, such as the fact that the Mysterious Island could exist and that his grandfather discovered it, but after Hank considers that this trip could help bring him closer to his usual anti-social step son, the couple decide it would be ideal. Once arriving at Palau, they board a private helicopter run by Gabato and his daughter Kailani, whom Sean immediately develops a crush on. The four travel to the co-ordinates until their helicopter is hit by a freak storm, causing them to crash on the island. Eventually they manage to make their way inland where they finally meet Sean’s grandfather. He leads them back to his hut where they spend the night. Once it is determined that a radio signal for a distress call can only be sent once a fortnight, it is decided that the group will stay put until then. The next day the five travel to the lost city of Atlantis, buried far back in the jungles. There Hank finds evidence to believe that the island is slowly sinking. It is revealed through Sean’s grandfather that the island sinks underwater once every 140 years or so due to shifting tectonic plates, and that they still have years before the next cycle begins. Hank’s recent discovery however shows that Sean’s grandfather’s calculations are wrong and that the island will sink in a few days. From there the group set out to Captain Nemo’s tomb, which contains his journal holding the whereabouts of the legendary submarine, The Nautilus, their only hope of escaping on time. Once the journal is uncovered, they set out towards Nautilus, encountering various obstacles in their path. Sean’s foot is dislocated after a dog fight involving a giant bird, and the group is slowed down. The next morning it is discovered that Gabato has left the group to return to a previously passed volcano of gold, which he believes is his and Kailani’s only hope of living a decent life. Kailani and Sean’s grandfather set out to find him while Hank and Sean continue to look for the Nautilus. Once at the submarine’s entrance, the two are disheartened to find that the rising sea level has buried the cave underwater and that they must dive to where it is located. Using a simple breathing device, they manage to reach the submarine and open the entrance hatch, narrowly avoiding a nasty encounter with a giant electric eel. Kailani and Sean’s grandfather eventually find Gabato and convince him to return to the submarine. Once there, they are distraught to discover that Hank and Sean are nowhere in sight. Unbeknownst to them, the pair are attempting to start the submarine, although the batteries are long exhausted. Hank devises a plan to use the eel to conduct enough electricity to kick start the Nautilus, and equipping a basic diving suit, exits the sub to confront the eel and throw a harpoon at it. Once the submarine starts, they quickly travel to the surface and retrieve the other three. Six months later, Gabato is head of a successful tourism movement on Palau, and has enough money to send Kailani to the United States where she is dating Sean and attending college.

The Video Trailer is as shown below:

Hello Everyone,
Baby and I caught the movie, “We Not Naughty” last Friday [20 January 2012] and here’s what we think of the movie.

The movie was directed by Jack Neo and it was released last Thursday [19 January 2012].

The movie plot is as follows:

Wei Jie and Jian Ren are best of friends in school, and they both face their share of family problems; Wei Jie has a gambling addict father and his mother who does not think highly of him always condemns him. Jian Ren comes from a well-to-do single parent family but has an estranged relationship with his mother. He becomes rebellious to spite his mother and even becomes a runner for the loansharks. They both share the talent and interest on gadgets inventions but their efforts are never recognized.

CK, as their lecturer, tries to build a rapport with the boys but ends up being snubbed. His patience pays off and the boys end up seeking help from him for their family problems. CK even help the boys to create an invention for a competition.

However, their invention is misused by the loansharks and in an attempt to stop that, CK, Wei Jie and Jian Ren’s lives are at risk.

The movie trailer is as follows:

Our Review of the Movie:

Most of the time, Baby and I were both laughing non-stop in the theatre together with other fellow movie-goers and this is only because, this movie brings with it a good sense of humour. I have to say, both Shawn and Joshua acted really well and majority of the casts were very compatible for their respective roles. While somehow the storyline is predictable, it indeed portrays the harsh reality of the challenges and obstacles that youths are very vulnerable to. We also noticed that certain portions of the film may also have been edited and replaced with new scenes because of the sensitive topic with regards to foreign talents. Though many have criticised Jack Neo’s latest film, probably due to stereotyping, both baby and I felt that this film could relate to us and we both felt that it was truly original, heart-warming, and of course, funny! So, if you’re game for a time to laugh off your stress and worries, you might just want to consider catching We Not Naughty.
