Vietnam has long been an easy option for a short regional escape from Singapore, but the family-holiday proposition is becoming more interesting than simply choosing a beachfront resort and spending a few days beside the pool.

The country welcomed more than 12.25 million international visitors in the first half of 2026, an increase of 14.9 per cent compared with the same period last year, according to the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism. With the next school-holiday travel period approaching, a number of hotels are also placing more emphasis on experiences that families can take part in together.

From pottery making in Hoi An to wildlife encounters in Da Nang and a six-bedroom retreat overlooking Ha Long Bay, here are four options worth knowing about.

Get hands-on with Hoi An’s craft traditions

One of the newest additions is NHAAN Resort & Spa Hoi An, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which opened in August 2026 in Cam Thanh village.

Rather than treating local culture simply as decoration, the resort offers hands-on activities including pottery throwing, traditional woodcarving and lantern making. Guests can also explore the surrounding countryside by bicycle, while younger travellers have access to a dedicated Kids’ Club.

For families, this makes NHAAN particularly interesting if the aim is to introduce children to some of Hoi An’s craft traditions without building the entire holiday around sightseeing.

The 174-room resort also has an infinity pool, rooftop spa and a selection of rooms and suites, including connecting-room options for families.

Look for wildlife at Son Tra

For children fascinated by animals and the natural world, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has a rather different advantage: its location within the Son Tra Nature Reserve.

The surrounding forest supports a wide variety of wildlife, including the distinctive red-shanked douc langur. The resort has offered wildlife-focused activities with its resident zoologist, alongside nature experiences including a hike towards an 800-year-old banyan tree.

The setting gives families the opportunity to pair a resort stay with a closer look at one of Central Vietnam’s most important natural environments rather than treating nature as little more than a backdrop.

Choose a resort built around family downtime

Families who prefer the familiar ease of a full resort may want to look at Radisson Blu Resort, Cam Ranh.

Situated on Bai Dai Beach and less than 10 minutes by car from Cam Ranh International Airport, the property combines beach access with a sizeable collection of family facilities. Its programme includes a tropical-themed waterpark, Kids’ Club, coconut harvesting, cooking activities, cycling and sports.

Family connecting rooms are available, while larger beachfront pool villas provide considerably more space for groups travelling together.

This is probably the most straightforward option of the four for parents who want enough activities to keep children occupied without having to plan every day of the holiday.

Bring the extended family to Ha Long Bay

At the other end of the scale is InterContinental Halong Bay Resort, where the attraction for larger families is less about children’s programming and more about being able to stay together.

Its Halong Bay Estate is a 2,200-square-metre, six-bedroom beachfront residence overlooking the bay. The property includes an infinity pool, private spa and sauna, gym, cinema, billiards room and library, with a private chef available to prepare meals.

It is clearly positioned at the luxury end of the market, but the configuration makes it an interesting option for multigenerational holidays or several families travelling together who would otherwise need multiple hotel rooms.

Choosing the right Vietnam family escape

The useful question may ultimately be less about which resort has the longest facilities list and more about what kind of holiday the family actually wants.

Hoi An offers a stronger cultural and craft component; Da Nang provides access to both resort comforts and nature; Cam Ranh works well for an uncomplicated beach break; and Ha Long Bay offers an unusual option for larger groups wanting to stay under one roof.

For parents planning a trip, it is worth checking activity schedules, age requirements and availability directly with each hotel before booking, as programmes can change seasonally.
