We recently received an ASUS ZenFone Selfie and over the past week, we have put it to the test and in this review, you will find out what we think of the smartphone and whether you ought to buy this phone for your personal use.

By its name, you would probably have an inkling that the ASUS ZenFone Selfie is a mobile phone for people who like to take selfies and I don’t deny that. Both the front and rear camera of the phone have a huge 13-Megapixel resolution and they include dual-LED Real Tone flash technology for perfect illumination in any lighting conditions.

Given such specs for its camera, I must admit, the ASUS Zenfone Selfie does take exceptional photos and I am pretty impressed with how some of my photos turned out. The camera function also has some cool features to edit and touch up the photos. But of course, if you’re the kind of person who believes in using the #nofilter hashtag, the camera is still good for taking high quality photos.

Definitely not.

The ASUS Zenfone Selfie is not cut out for it and running multiple apps on the phone will definitely slow the phone down. I will generally not recommend users to multitask on the ASUS Zenfone Selfie unless necessary because the phone will be quite sluggish.

Having said that, if photography is your thing and you’re looking for a smartphone that will also allow you to surf Facebook, upload photos to Instagram, and text your friends; then the ASUS Zenfone Selfie is something that you might want to consider. One thing that I really like about the ASUS ZenFone Selfie is its dual-sim capability and what that also means for me is that whenever I go overseas for a vacation; I could just purchase a tourist sim card and insert it alongside my main sim card. The battery of the ASUS ZenFone Selfie is removable and it allows users to take out an empty battery and slot in a fully-charged spare battery when the need arises. In my personal opinion, there may be no need for a spare battery because the battery life of the ASUS ZenFone Selfie is rather decent and despite me being quite a heavy user, the phone could last me an entire day.

To buy or not to buy?

Well, for the price of SGD$379, the ASUS Zenfone Selfie may be considered pricey for students but well within the reach of most working adults.

But is the phone worth the price tag?

Probably yes and probably not. It all depends on how much you are willing to pay for a phone like the ASUS Zenfone Selfie.

As for a performance-driven person like me?

I reckon that the ASUS ZenFone 2 might be a more suitable choice.

Not looking for a phone but some other hardware like an All-in-One PC or even a smartwatch?

You might want to check out the new products such as the ASUS Zen AiO Pro PC or ASUS ZenWatch 2 that were recently launched at the ASUS Zensation event.

The ASUS MeMOPad 8 is a Quad-Core 8-inch LTE Tablet that is powered by the next generation 64-bit Intel Atom Z3560 Processor and it is very slim, ultra-portable, and convenient for one-handed use.

If you go to Google and search for the ASUS MeMOPad8, you might notice that there are two different variants of the ASUS MeMOPad8 that goes by the same name and in this blog post, we will be sharing about the ASUS MeMOPad 8 that has the model number, “ME581CL”.

Our Personal Opinion/Review of the ASUS MeMOPad 8, ME581CL Variant

Having fiddled with the ASUS MeMOPad8 for a month, we daresay that the ASUS MeMOPad 8 is a very responsive and power-packed tablet that offers a blazing fast web-browsing experience.

With 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage [with microSD expansion capability for up to 64GB capacity], and a 9-hour battery life, the ASUS MeMOPad 8 can be an entertainment powerhouse that allows you to bring your video and music library wherever you go.

Not only is the ASUS MeMOPad 8 an entertainment powerhouse, its sleek profile of just 7.45mm and its weight of 299 grams makes it very convenient and lightweight to bring around.

Featuring an 8-inch Full HD 1920 x 1200 IPS display with a wide 178-degree viewing angle that combines ASUS Splendid and TrueVivid colour enhancement technologies, the ASUS MeMOPad 8 is very capable of delivering stunning visuals.

It is also interesting to note that although the ASUS MeMOPad 8 does not come with a stylus, its capacitive touchscreen is capable of pen functionality by using any metal-tipped pen or lead pencil with a radius of 0.75mm or more.

One thing I really like about the ASUS MeMOPad 8 is its ability to stream photos and videos in high definition to a TV or an external display with Miracast. When paired with the Google Chromecast, the ASUS MeMOPad 8 works wonders and turns your not so smart TV into a very smart TV.

Some other specs of the ASUS MeMOPad 8 include NFC, 5-Megapixel Rear Camera, 2-Megapixel Front-Facing Camera, and Stereo Speakers with SonicMaster Technology.

ASUS has recently unveiled 12 new premium and innovative products at the “In Search of Incredible” press event and one of which is the ASUS EeeBook X205. We were very privileged to have been given the opportunity to review the ASUS EeeBook X205 and we decided to craft this blog post using this incredibly slim notebook.

Our First Impression of the ASUS EeeBook X205

At the first impression, the ASUS EeeBook X205 has a very simple and elegant design. It is extremely slim, lightweight, and highly portable. Just so you know, the ASUS EeeBook X205 measures 17.5mm at its thickest point and weighs only 980g. The non-removable battery is built into the ASUS EeeBook X205 and at the sides are the charging port, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 Micro HDMI, 1 MicroSD Card Slot, and an Audio Jack.

Our Personal Opinion/Review of the ASUS EeeBook X205

Over the course of the review, we found the ASUS EeeBook X205 to be such an ideal notebook that we are considering to purchase it for our personal usage. The ASUS EeeBook X205 fits snugly into our camera bag and it is so convenient to bring around whenever we travel from places to places for events.

Being on-the-go all the time, it is such a hassle for us to be lugging our 15.6-inch HP Envy 15 notebook that weighs more than 2KG and the ASUS EeeBook X205 has proven itself to be a very suitable alternative notebook that allows us to blog, read, research, edit photos, and stay connected!

We are also extremely impressed with the long battery life of the ASUS EeeBook X205 because it allows us to work for more than 10 hours without having the need to search for a power outlet. However, having said so many positive things about the ASUS EeeBook X205, there is certainly room for improvement. It would have been awesome if the ASUS EeeBook X205 comes with a touchscreen display and though it is easy to carry around, the ASUS EeeBook X205 is definitely not for the hardcore gamer. We tried doing some intense image and video editing on the ASUS EeeBook X205 and it was slightly lagging.

Typing on the ASUS EeeBook X205 also needs some getting used to as we found it a little crammed and narrow for our fingers.

If ASUS were to improve the ASUS EeeBook X205 further, we believe that it will be quite a hit with students and working professionals.

The ASUS EeeBook X205 comes in four different colours, elegant white, champagne gold, shadow black, and urban red. You can either opt for the 32GB or 64GB storage and though there is no official release date and pricing available at this point in time, rumour has it that the ASUS EeeBook X205 should be available in the market in the next few months with a starting price of around SGD$325. If you are into cloud computing, the ASUS EeeBook X205 is the best device for it as it includes 115GB of OneDrive and 500GB Webstorage free for 2 years.
