Anyways, this is one long overdue Blog Post but nevertheless, we would like to share with you about our experience at the Sentosa Flowers: Joys of Spring 2013 event that was held last month at Sentosa’s Palawan Beach.
For me personally, this was my first time attending a flower exhibition that showcases the wonders of creation with thousands of tropical and spring flowers in a myriad of species presented in a natural outdoor setting. Though it rained in the later part of the evening, we managed to finish the entire trail right before it started pouring cats and dogs.
In case you didn’t know, the annual flower exhibition was birthed in 2005 by Sentosa and every year, they have a different theme. The event also presents itself as a vibrant backdrop for visitors to capture their most memorable moments.
Along the trail, we took quite a number of photographs because the flowers were a sight to behold. Just take a look at some of the really beautiful and pretty flowers.
Despite the crowd, we took a simple stroll around just to admire the beauty of nature and Baby happened to bump into her best friend at Sentosa! Sentosa’s definitely the place for fun, excitement, and bonding with family members and friends.
Well, having said so much about the event, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and we can’t wait to head back to Sentosa probably for our next Staycation. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoyed reading about the Sentosa Flowers: Joys of Spring event.

In our most recent giveaway of 2X ToastBox Vouchers worth SGD$5 each, we are happy to announce the two following readers whom have won the contest; they are: 1). Jason Koh
&
2). Ong Ruixiong
A hearty Congratulations to the both of them!
Well, if you haven’t won any prizes in any of our previous Blog Giveaways, don’t lose heart ok! The trick to winning prizes in our Blog Giveaways is to submit as many entries as you can by either Tweeting about our Giveaway, Liking our Facebook Page, or Answering the Question required. By doing so, you will be given multiple chances of being selected to win a prize.
Anyways, in this Blog Entry, we are extremely happy to announce that we will be giving away 3X SGD$10 worth of ePhoenix Credits that are proudly sponsored by Phoenix Comms! At this juncture, we believe many of you must be scratching your heads right now and questioning what exactly is ePhoenix Credits.
Before we begin, we’re pretty sure many of you have heard of the Phoenix Card. If you don’t know or you have never heard of the Phoenix Card, Phoenix Card is one of the top selling International/IDD Calling Cards in Singapore.
Well, Phoenix Comms [owner of Phoenix Card] recently launched one of the first cardless International Calling Card/IDD Solution known as ‘ePhoenix’ and it is essentially a PIN free, prepaid International/IDD Calling Card service that offers one of the most competitive rates in Singapore; thus allowing users to enjoy meaningful and precious conversations with loved ones overseas. The awesome thing about using ePhoenix is that you can save the hassle of purchasing physical calling cards which usually has a short expiration date and with ePhoenix, users can now take advantage of the 9 months validity period for each top-up.
1). Go card-less. No physical card purchase is required and therefore, you need not worry about losing your card.
2). Top up your calling credits online anywhere, at anytime. As long as you’re connected to the Internet, it is easy and convenient for you to top up your calling credits!
3). Get reliable and quality calls at one of the lowest rates you can ever get in Singapore. For SGD $10 worth of ePhoenix Credits, talktime is 333mins for calls to China, 597 mins for calls to India, 453 mins for calls to Malaysia, 399 mins for calls to the US, 333 mins for calls to Australia, 399 mins for calls to the UK and 349 mins for calls to Taiwan! This is definitely way cheaper than using the International/IDD Calling Service that is provided by SingTel, StarHub, or even M1.
Many people have the misconception that International/IDD Calling Card is only for foreigners whom are studying/working/living in Singapore. However, this is not true because we locals may sometimes find ourselves making International Phone Calls to our loved ones whom are living/studying abroad or even to arrange for accommodations and transportation prior to our overseas travel.
Let me give you an example.During our most recent trip to Taiwan, we made tons of International Calls to the various Accommodations and Transportation Companies in Taiwan to enquire about their services and rates. As writing in Chinese isn’t our forte and Google Translation may sometimes be rather inaccurate, we liaised with the various Accommodations and Transportation Companies in Taiwan via phone conversations as a follow-up to our Email exchanges. This has helped to clear any doubts between us and the various Accommodations and Transportation Companies in Taiwan, and it also facilitated our bookings much smoothly.
Whether you’re making an International Call to your loved ones or to make some travel arrangements prior to your visit to another country, ePhoenix will definitely come in handy.
With ePhoenix, you can bid farewell to:
•Searching for kiosks selling phone cards when you need to make calls
•Having to buy new or top up phone cards when the current card expires/runs out of credit
•Keying in a long string of pin numbers when doing top-up
If you’re wondering how you can sign up for ePhoenix Service or how to dial overseas using ePhoenix, read on!
To Sign Up for ePhoenix Service:
1) Visit Phoenix Comms webpage (http://www.phoenixcomms.com.sg/)
2) Register the relevant phone number, and purchase top up value
3) Once the purchase is confirmed, you will receive an online transaction confirmation
To Dial Overseas Using ePhoenix:
1) Dial 6347 4088 with registered phone number
2) Follow operator’s instructions and dial overseas recipient’s number (Country Code + Area Code + Telephone Number)
3) Start talking
We hope that by now, you would have a better idea of what ePhoenix is and how you can avoid expensive International Calls by using ePhoenix. As mentioned, we will be giving away 3X SGD $10 worth of ePhoenix Credits! In order to participate, all you have to do is click on the following link and follow all the necessary steps as indicated : https://awinsomelife.org/current-blog-giveaway/
We will be accepting entries for the giveaway from now till 10 March 2013!
Stay tuned to more updates from us!
God bless!

While walking around Chinatown Point, we spotted quite a large crowd of people gathering at Hong Lim Park [Speakers’ Corner] and we found out that there was a protest about the population white paper going on.
Despite the light drizzle, the number of people present were quite significant. This was a picture that we took from across the road. A number of people could be seen walking towards the tentage with their umbrellas.
To be really honest, the turnout was above expectations. According to the main organiser of the event, Mr. Gilbert Goh initially expected that only about 200+ people would come for the protest. However, officials estimated that about 4000+ people were present.
The crowd of people whom gathered at the top to listen and hear what the speakers had to say about the population white paper.
The crowd of people whom gathered at the indoor sheltered area to watch and listen the speakers whom shared about their thoughts and opinions on the population white paper.
The crowds of people whom gathered together to protest peacefully against the population white paper consisted of Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans. People of all ages from young to old and even those whom are disabled were there to stand against the population white paper.
Hong Lim Park Speakers’ Corner was definitely packed and we saw for ourselves how united everyone was and voiced out their displeasure over the population white paper. Despite the rain, everyone whom was there were unwavered and they stood firm on the muddy grounds.
Though we didn’t spot any mainstream media while we were there, we did spot some foreign news media such as CNBC and Reuters whom were there to cover the event.
The pictures does gives you a perspective of what went on during the peaceful protest and some say it is a historical moment for Singapore where Singaporeans stood united with a common voice to sound off their displeasure over the population white paper.
12 speakers from varying backgrounds spoke to the large crowds and some of the speakers included current and former opposition party members. Even Tan Kin Lian and Tan Jee Say were there to speak during the event.
The event ended with everyone singing the Singapore National Anthem [Majulah Singapura]. Earlier during the event, the crowd even sang the song, “Count On Me Singapore” and took the Citizen’s Pledge.
Well, the atmosphere was rather electrifying. We saw crowds of people cheering, jeering, and tearing. I guess what the speakers spoke about has really hit the nail on the spot and truly, we personally disagree with the population white paper. Anyhows, we saw for ourselves how Singaporeans can be united against a common cause; putting aside our differences, and standing up for our future generations of children and grandchildren.
Time really flies and in the blink of an eye, it is already the month of February and we are really very grateful for all the wonderful opportunities that have been offered to us time and time again. If any of you remember, we recently organised an Exclusive Blog Giveaway that was sponsored by Sticky Ties and we are really happy to announce the following Winsomelifers who have won themselves a set of 5 Sticky Ties.
If you have missed out on our previous blog giveaway, fret not as we are currently giving away ToastBox Vouchers that are worth SGD $5. By the way, the ToastBox Vouchers can be utilised at all ToastBox Outlets and with the voucher, you can get yourself a nice breakfast set to kick-off your morning! To stand a chance in winning those vouchers, check out the following link: https://awinsomelife.org/current-blog-giveaway/
Anyway, in January alone, we attended more than 5 events and we received tons of requests for sponsorship write-ups. Well, due to our busy schedule, we might not be able to accommodate all of the requests but nevertheless, we really would like to thank all of our partners for giving us the awesome opportunity to write for them.
Well, today is the first day of the Chinese New Year and I believe many of you should be visiting your relatives and friends and getting Ang Pows too. Therefore, we are also expecting our readership to fall this month as everyone should probably be spending quality time with their family and loved ones. Here’s a gentle reminder for all the guys out there, Valentine’s Day is just 4 days away so don’t forget to plan a really sweet surprise for your other half! 🙂
Anyways, a few weeks ago, Baby and I went to Chinatown and it was really packed with people! Since we didn’t want to visit Chinatown nearing Chinese New Year because of the expected heavy human traffic + road closures, we went earlier but there were still quite a number of people. Although the weather wasn’t fantastic [because it was raining rather heavily], we had quite a fruitful time at Chinatown because we bought a couple of things and discovered some new stuffs that might just interest you. Hence, the remainder of this blog entry would very much be about our recent experience in Chinatown.
While walking along Chinatown, we spotted a couple of stores selling Ang Pows [Red Packets] and some of them were sold for quite a good price. We daresay that the Ang Pows that are being sold now are way better and attractive than when I was a kid.
After purchasing some Ang Pows which we felt were quite cute, we spotted a store that was selling embossed metal plates. Well, we’ve been thinking of how we could “decorate” our car and we actually did considered having customised paint designs but because it was too expensive, we went to search for alternatives. So, when we spotted this particular store, we decided to customised a metal plate to put up at the back of our car because it was really affordable. If you happen to spot our customised metal plate on the roads or just about anywhere, you could snap a picture and post it up on our Facebook Page via the following link: http://www.facebook.com/awinsomelife and you can stand to win a GV Gift Card worth SGD $38! Happy Hunting!
We didn’t know that The Singapore Coins and Notes Museum was in Chinatown [Pagoda Street to be exact] and we popped by to see what they have to offer.
Presenting to you the World Largest Coin which requires two people to carry! The hole in the middle is for a pole to go through so that the coin can be carried on the shoulders of the people carrying it.
The Singapore Coins and Notes Museum also has a coin minting machine which you can try out for SGD $2. All you have to do is just head to the payment counter to purchase a “blank” coin and you will also be given a small gift pouch to put the coin in.
After spending 15 minutes at the Singapore Coins and Notes Museum, we went on to get a customised Wooden Crafted Seal for me. The seal is done on the spot and takes about 10 minutes.
It so happened that on the day we visited Chinatown, it coincided with the Chinatown Lighting Up Ceremony. Well, it was nothing fantastic because the crowds were jostling with one another and the worst thing was, the event started extremely late!

So much has happened this week that we haven’t been able to blog much. Nevertheless, here is just an update as to what we have been up to!
In the earlier part of this week, we caught the movie, Hansel & Gretel 3D [courtesy of Club UIP] and it was indeed an awesome movie. Do check out our review about the movie at the following link: https://awinsomelife.org/2013/01/22/hansel-gretel-witch-hunters-3d-2013-movie-review/
On a separate note, our current giveaway of 1 Set of 5 Sticky Ties to 5 Lucky Winners will be ending today and after which, we will be announcing the winners shortly.
Anyways, Chinese New Year is just 14 days away and Valentine’s Day is 4 days after Chinese New Year! What a busy month of February it is going to be indeed! Have all of you bought your “New Year” clothing and thought about what to get for your other half on Valentine’s Day yet?
When we were looking at the “New Year” Goodies that were being sold at the various Bakeries and Stores, we were rather appalled that the prices were so unreasonably high! When we went across the Causeway to Johor Bahru, the “New Year” Goodies were priced somewhat similar to Singapore’s pricing but if you take the currency exchange rate into consideration, you are literally getting them at half the price. So, if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative to Singapore’s “New Year” Goodies, why not head over to Johor Bahru and get them because they are less expensive. If you’re heading over to Johor Bahru, we will strongly recommend you to get the “New Year” Goodies from Lavender. They have a wide range of “New Year” Goodies and their “New Year” Goodies are really awesome. Just look out for their booth at the Main Atrium of City Square.
As for Valentine’s Day, there’s a lot of things you can do with your other half. Well, some activities for Valentine’s Day could be spending time together by staying at home and cooking/baking together, going out to shop together, catching a movie together, having a romantic dinner together, and taking a stroll along East Coast Park or Gardens By The Bay. You don’t really need to spend a lot in order to achieve the objectives of spending a meaningful time together.
On a separate note, the Punggol East By-Election that took place yesterday ended victoriously for the Worker’s Party [WP] and we wish Lee Li Lian all the best in her role as an elected MP. As for the People’s Action Party, the tide is changing for them and there is definitely much work to be done on the ground if they want to win the hearts of the people. Seriously, there needs to be a review in the prices for Housing, COE, Healthcare, Transportation and Education. If these essential infrastructures are already cracking, surly there ought to be repair works and if these cracks are still not rectified, then I suppose we will most likely be able to predict the results of the next General Election [GE]. If the current infrastructure can’t even support Singapore’s current population of 5 million, wouldn’t a population of 7 million people make it worse?
Oh wells, we shall talk more about these issues in our upcoming blog entries.
Looking back, one of the best moments in 2012 was when my relatives from London came over to Singapore for a short-stay. Honestly, I really miss them because they visit us like once every 6 years [which is extremely a long time]!. So, when I received news that they were going to come and visit us, I was extremely excited and planned their entire itinerary when they were in Singapore.
So well, I managed to dig out some photos that were taken in 2006 [more than 6 years ago] and man, time really flies because we have all grown up + I was so skinny back then!
Some people say that I am quite a sentimental person and that is true! Just look at this card that was given to me by my relatives from London on my birthday which I have kept since 2001!
As there are really tons of photos that were taken during my relatives’ stay in Singapore, I am going to divide this Blog Post into three separate parts. In part 1 of this Blog Post, I will be sharing about Gardens By The Bay and theSands SkyPark.
Since Gardens By The Bay and the Sands SkyPark are the newest and latest attractions in Singapore, I decided to bring my relatives to check them out since it would be their first time there. Moreover, both Gardens By The Bay and the Sands SkyPark are just within walking distance from each other and that makes it really convenient to complete two attractions in one single day.
To access the Sands SkyPark, it will cost SGD$20 [for adults], SGD$14 [for children aged 2-12], and SGD$17 [for senior citizens aged 65 and above] and tickets are available at the SkyPark Box Office which is situated at Tower 3, Basement 1. To avoid the hassle of queuing up, you can also purchase the admission tickets online as well.
Apparently, there are free guided tours that are conducted daily at 10am, 2pm, and 9pm and in order to participate in the free guided tour, guests will have to register at the SkyPark Box Office. Registration starts at 9.30am daily, on a first-come-first-served basis and no advance registration is permitted. Each tour is limited to 50 guests and it will last for approximately 15 minutes.
Well, some of you might be wondering, “is Sands SkyPark worth checking out?”. To be really honest, you should visit the Sands SkyPark if it is something that you have never done before. What’s pretty disappointing is that
ticket holders only have access to the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck and its views but not the Infinity Pool which is reserved exclusively for Hotel guests staying at the Marina Bay Sands.
Here are some photos of the stunning surrounding scenery that I took when we were at the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck. And yes, the Sands SkyPark offers plenty of opportunities for some nice photographs of Singapore’s city skyline so seize the chance and start snapping away.
Well, if you’re planning a trip to Sands SkyPark Observation Deck, be sure that you check with the SkyParks Box Office that the Observation Deck is open and not closed for private events and/or commercial commitments. You could also call +65 6688 8826 to ensure that the Sands SkyPark is open during the time that you wish to visit.
After checking out the Sands SkyPark, we went inside Marina Bay Sands to cool down because it was extremely hot outside.
As we mentioned, Gardens By The Bay is within walking distance from Marina Bay Sands and to get to Gardens By The Bay, there is a bridge known as the Dragonfly Bridge which links Marina Bay Sands and Gardens By The Bay.
By the way, in case you’re wondering, access to Gardens By The Bay is FREE except for visits to certain conservatories. For more details, you can check out Gardens By The Bay Website.
Also, in part 2 of this Blog Post, we will be sharing about Yan Palace Restaurant and the Singapore Flyer. So, do stay tuned to more updates from us.
First and foremost, here’s both Jacqueline and I wishing all of you Winsomelifers a Happy New Year 2013!
As I was in Ipoh [my hometown] over the weekends since last Saturday, I wasn’t able to Blog and hence, that kinda explains the lack of Blog entries over the last few days. Nevertheless, because it is New Year’s Day today, I will not let this day slip by without Blogging a single entry.
Well, as much as I would love to Blog about my recent trip to Ipoh, I am currently unable to do so as I have tons of photos that have yet been edited. However, if you have been following me on Instagram and/or Twitter, you might have caught some snippets which I shot during my trip.
From this trip alone, I’ve learnt many things and one of them which really left a deep lasting impression on me is that no matter how tough the going can be, my pillar of strength, encouragement, and refuge, will always come from my own family members and loved ones. I will definitely dwell more on this topic in my coming blog entries because I really want people [especially the younger ones] to know that they should appreciate their family members more and not take them for granted.
Anyways, we have received more than 30 entries for the current giveaway that we are having and we also saw some pretty interesting and creative answers to our question, “Where would you want to paste the Sticky Ties should you win this contest?”. Well, if you haven’t submitted your entry and you would like to win yourself a set of 5 Sticky Ties, do hurry as the giveaway will end in 25 days time!
Also, do share about the giveaway that we’re having with your friends because the more people you share with, the more chances you will get to win the set of 5 Sticky Ties!
Last but not the least, we really want to thank all of you Winsomelifers for being our awesome readers. In fact, we are really happy to announce that our Blog has gotten more than 100,000 views all-time and for the month of December, we had gotten 862 views a day! Besides that, we now have 50 Fans on our Facebook Page and our Winsomelifer’s Programme currently has 54 members! All these would not have been possible if not for the tremendous support from all of you and we really want to thank you all for your unwavering support and love. Also, all glory be unto the LORD because if not for Him, we wouldn’t have had the supernatural favour and abundance of blessings that kept pouring into our lives!
