If you have been to Black Tap at Marina Bay Sands, you already know what the CrazyShake is about. Towering milkshakes, over-the-top toppings, the kind of thing that stops people mid-walk through The Shoppes. The New York burger and shake institution has been doing that here for eight years now, and it has just raised the stakes with something new.

Black Tap Singapore has launched the CrazySundae, a dessert that takes the spirit of the CrazyShake and rebuilds it as an ice cream sundae. More importantly, Singapore is the first stop on the global CrazySundae World Tour, which means this is a genuine world first. If you try it here before anywhere else, you are genuinely ahead of the curve.

Three flavours have launched to kick things off. Hella Hot Fudge layers vanilla ice cream with flourless chocolate cake, spiced peanut brittle, candied peanuts, and cocoa pebbles, finished with whipped cream and a drizzle of spicy hot fudge sauce. Cherry Bomb goes in a different direction entirely, with vanilla ice cream, cherry pie slices, crunchy pie crumble, whipped cream, and sour cherry sauce topped with maraschino cherries. The most interesting of the three for Singapore palates is probably Bangkok Banana Crunch, which pairs vanilla ice cream with fried bananas, banana pudding, corn flakes, banana crunch, and whipped cream, finished with dulce de leche sauce. The local reference feels intentional and it is the one I am most curious to try.

Alongside the CrazySundae launch, Black Tap has also opened a new alfresco dining area seating 38 guests, designed for both daytime lunches and evening drinks against the Marina Bay skyline. If you have ever wanted to enjoy a craft beer or cocktail outdoors at MBS without the full sit-down commitment, this new space is worth knowing about.

Black Tap is located at L1-80 of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, open Monday to Friday from 11.30am to 10.15pm, and from 11am on weekends and public holidays. Reservations can be made at marinabaysands.com/restaurants/black-tap.html.
