Our Personal Opinion/Review of Triumph In The Skies

Jacqueline is a big fan of The Triumph In The Skies drama series and when she found out that there was going to be a film adaptation of the drama series, she was so excited that absolutely nothing was going to stop her from watching the movie, even if it was going to cost her a million dollars [yes, I’m exaggerating].

However, Jacqueline’s excitement about the movie was not an uncommon one because when I shared the news on Facebook that Julian Cheung and Charmaine Sheh were going to come to Singapore and promote the movie at Marina Bay Sands, many people were asking me for more details about the Red Carpet event and the Movie Gala Premiere.

So how did the movie fared?

Although I have not watched a single episode of the drama series, it wasn’t difficult for me to follow the movie as the story plot is entirely different from the drama series. As Triumph In The Skies is a romance comedy movie, you can expect lots of laughter and some pretty hot bathtub scenes.

However, don’t expect Triumph In The Skies to be like Fifty Shades Of Grey. It is nothing like it and both Jacqueline and I will highly recommend you to watch Triumph In The Skies over Fifty Shades of Grey anytime.

Also, we all love movies with sweet and happy endings, don’t we? Well, Triumph In The Skies does fulfill that and if you are finding ways to occupy your time after all the Chinese New Year visitations, you probably might want to consider going to the cinema and watch Triumph In The Skies. With a running duration of 100 minutes, Triumph In The Skies is rated PG-13 and is shown in Mandarin with English & Chinese subtitles.

Oh, and book your tickets early because the movie is expected to sell-out pretty fast!

Movie Synopsis of Triumph In The Skies

Young Pilot Branson [Louis Koo] recently takes over Skylette, his father’s aviation empire, only to realize his old flames Cassie [Charmaine Sheh] is a flight attendant there. Several years ago, he was forced to break up with her and move to New York to take care of his father’s business. To this day, the two continue to harbour feelings for each other but decide to keep them bottled up.

In an effort to re-brand the airline, Branson invites Rock Idol TM to star in an upcoming commercial and appoints Sam [Fransic Ng] as her flying consultant. Incongruent in both tastes and experience, this odd couple gets off on the wrong foot. However, as the shoot progresses, they slowly discover each other’s merits, developing a strong mutual attraction.

Jayden [Julien Cheung] has left Skylette Airline to become a pilot for private jets. He meets the young and vivacious Kika [Kuo Tsai Chieh] during a flight and assumes her to be wayward and shallow. But they turn out to have a lot in common and start falling madly in love. At the height of their romance, Jayden realises almost too late the secret behind her recalcitrance.

Each of the three relationships comes with its own setbacks. As long as one can accept the imperfection of things, finding happiness [however fleetingly], is a blessing in itself.
