Hello Everyone,
though Total Defence Day is over now, I would still love to share this with you all. Well, for Singapore, we always celebrate Total Defence Day on the 15th of February every year and for this year, the theme for the Total Defence campaign is known as, “It’s My Turn!” Through this campaign, it seeks to convey the message that it is now our turn to play our part for Total Defence and build on what other Singaporeans have done to keep Singapore strong and secure.
Interestingly enough, a website was formed so that Singaporeans can appreciate how Total Defence has been instrumental in safeguarding our way of life through understanding our history, culture and identity, and also engage and encourage Singaporean to participate and step forward to do something meaningful for the community! In case you’re wondering where you can access the website, you can do so here –> www.itsmyturn.sg
This is how the main page looks like
The website has many interesting and interactive contents for you to use and I particular like the “Participate” content where you can create your own event and get others to be involved in your own social initiative. This is definitely a fun and easy way to make a difference in your community!
Here are some of the various social initiatives that some Singaporeans have created and seriously, I was blown away by the enthusiasm of other Singaporeans that I might participate in one or two of the initiatives that were created!
This is one social initiative that I will definitely participate in, “No Red Meat Monday“! And well, it’s easy for me because I don’t eat lamb or beef! But well, as Duck meat is also considered red meat, I shall abstain from Duck Meat every Monday then.
Also, there is a Quiz available on the website to find out what type of Singaporean you really are and because I was really curious, I took the Quiz and guess what, I’m a “Break The Law Only If I Have No Choice” Singaporean.
Now, how accurate and true is that? Well, I would very much say that it is pretty accurate and true because I’m a person who don’t like breaking rules. However, when I practically have no choice but to break the rules, I just have to do it. Take for example, just last Thursday, I was invited for a cocktail/dinner party and because the traffic jam was so bad and I was late [Singaporeans like me also want face mah], I decided to take an alternative route and to do so, I drove along the road shoulder for a good 1KM just so that I could exit the expressway! Oops! =X
Here are some interesting results from the people whom took the quiz
Well, if you are interested in taking the quiz and find out what type of Singaporean you are, here is the direct link –> http://itsmyturn.sg/quiz/take-quiz
And once you are done with the quiz, you might just want to comment on this blog entry and share with me your results!
Stay tuned for more updates from us!
God Bless!
