As the Official Blogger for the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014, we were very privileged to have the opportunity to review one of OSIM’s highly talk-about product; the OSIM uPhoria Warm!

The OSIM uPhoria Warm is essentially a leg massager and it features a Tui-Na massage technology that stimulates key meridian points to promote positive flow of energy; relieving aches and strains at the calves.

With the Calf-Gliding massage system of the OSIM uPhoria Warm, the firm strokes of the Tui-Na provides enjoyable deep tissue massage to relieve aches and improve circulation to the legs to keep them healthy.

The OSIM uPhoria Warm features 8 lifestyle massage programmes for your well-being and they are, Relax; Energise; High-Heels; Toning; Reflexology; Sleep; Sports Recovery and Senior.

Having tried the OSIM uPhoria Warm for about a month now, the OSIM uPhoria Warm is definitely a gift you can consider getting for your parents or spouse. Personally, we really like the OSIM uPhoria Warm because it really helps to relieve our tired feet after a long day at work. The massage technology of the OSIM uPhoria Warm is pretty accurate as it was able to massage the points which needed the most attention. On top of that, the massage felt firm and wasn’t too painful. Compared to a traditional foot reflexology done by a therapist, the OSIM uPhoria Warm is a very good alternative and provides the most comfortable experience. Having tried all 8 different lifestyle massage programmes that are available on the OSIM uPhoria Warm, each serves its own purpose and caters to different needs. As a matter of fact, with the 8 different lifestyle massage programmes, anyone and everyone can use it; whether you’re a lady, an elderly, an active sports person, or a workaholic!

Seriously, once is never enough with the OSIM uPhoria Warm. The foot massage experience can get pretty addictive after the first round and every night, I find myself spending at least half an hour just to get my legs massaged before heading to bed and trust me, I found sleep to be more enjoyable than before.

For the usual price of SGD $798, you can now get the OSIM uPhoria Warm at just SGD $698! Though the OSIM uPhoria Warm is quite a pricey gift but if you put things into perspective, a traditional foot reflexology outside would probably cost about SGD $28 for a half an hour session and if you decide to purchase the OSIM uPhoria Warm, you only need to use it for about 25 times to break even! Hence, it would be be even more value-for-money if you were to co-pay and co-share the OSIM uPhoria Warm with your family members.

The next time you experience a mental block when it comes to buying gifts for your family members, you might just want to check out what OSIM has to offer! 🙂

Friends who know me well enough will know that I dislike places with large crowds and while this is especially true, attending the New Year’s Eve Countdown last Tuesday at the One Fullerton Rooftop and The Promontory @ Marina Bay has somehow changed my mind and I have been somewhat convinced to attend the yearly New Year countdown celebrations from now on.

Both Jacqueline and I were at The Promontory @ Marina Bay to catch the Celebrate With The World Concert and the venue was swarming with people. As the concert was FREE and opened to members of the public, there was actually a long line of people queuing up to get into the concert grounds, even when we left at about 10pm.

The performances put up by the various artistes at the Celebrate With The World Concert were splendid and we liked the acts by Juz-B, a local a cappella group formed in 1995 and Ronski Speed, a German DJ and producer.

Juz-B

Rose to fame on the first season of televised Channel U Superband competition in 2006, Juz-B was well received as an All-Malay a cappella group that sang in Mandarin. Breaking the language barrier, Juz-B touched the hearts of both Chinese and Malay viewers with their passionate yet intercultural voice. Known for their soulful performances and on-stage flair, Juz-B bagged awards at the 2nd Asian A cappella Festival. Other notable performances include the 4th Starry Starry Night on Beijing CCTV as well as the STAR concert at Gardens by the Bay in 2012.

Ronski Speed

Best known for tracks like ‘The Space We Are’, ‘E.O.S. Satellite’ with Above & Beyond, ‘Lasting Light’ with Emma Hewitt and ‘Rise Again’ with Lucy Saunders; Ronski Speed has played DJ-sets in over 80 countries including world-renowned festivals such as Gatecrasher, Love Parade, Nature One and Mayday in Germany. He has also spun in globally recognised club establishments such as Ministry of Sound London, Avalon Hollywood, Zouk Singapore and Pacha New York.

We also happened to get upclose and personal with Namewee, a multi-talented artiste from Malaysia!

Namewee is a multi-talented artiste from Malaysia under the label Prodigee Media. Being a controversial figure through his rap songs depicting social issues in his country, he is becoming one of the most influential voices of his generation. His directorial movie debut ‘Nasi Lemak 2.0’ which he also starred in, became the highest box office movie in Malaysia in 2011 and earned him ‘Asia’s Best New Director Award’ at the Osaka Asian Film Festival. His latest album, ‘Asia Most Wanted’, launched in Taiwan this year introduced his talent to a bigger regional audience. With an official Facebook page of 950,000 fans and Youtube channel of 300,000 subscribers, he is now one of the most popular online figures in the region. ‘Celebrate with the World’ was Namewee’s first ever public performance in Singapore.

With awesome music at a location where people can also view the stunning fireworks display, the Celebrate With The World concert was too good to be missed.

After listening to some songs by Rivermaya, Jacqueline and I headed to the One Fullerton Rooftop where we spent some quiet moments just admiring the scenic view and await the highly anticipated fireworks display to start.

To be honest, we were rather privileged to be given this rare opportunity to access the One Fullerton Rooftop as it was only opened to the guests whom were staying at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore. All thanks to the special arrangements by both Urban Redevelopment Authority and The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, this was made possible and we are really grateful.

Canapés, soft drinks, wines, and champagnes were served to the guests at the One Fullerton Rooftop and when the countdown to 2014 began, everyone were just bustling with excitement. The 8-minute long fireworks display was truly amazing and it was our first time witnessing such a grandeur display of fireworks that beautifully coloured the sky.

It sure was the best countdown we’ve ever had and we’re quite sure that as the year progresses, more new and exciting stuffs will be coming soon!

Let us all work towards our New Year Resolutions and may all of you experience new hopes and dreams towards a greater future.

Happy New Year! 🙂

4 more days to Christmas and 11 more days to the start of a brand new year! Time really flies and while we are all busy doing our Christmas shopping, there is a group of people whom are working extremely hard to prepare the Marina Bay for the nation’s biggest countdown party of the year, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014.
If you have recently been to the Marina Bay, you would have noticed thousands of white spheres that are set afloat for the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014 and on these white spheres are the wishes that individuals/groups of people have written for the coming New Year.

The wishing spheres project is an extensive one and a lot of coordination work has been done to consolidate the wishing spheres. To find out more about what goes on behind the scenes at the Wishing Stations, check out Hong Peng’s blogpost.

5 days ago, on a hot Monday morning, we were extremely privileged to have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and we learnt how the wishing spheres were installed and set afloat on the waters of Marina Bay.

Together with another Blogger, we boarded the boat and were given a brief tour around the Marina Bay where the wishing spheres were.

To install all the 20,000 wishing spheres, there is a grid system underneath the waters that guides where the wishing spheres are to be installed and there is a rope that would be attached to the wishing sphere to keep them in place.

To keep the wishing spheres in tip-top condition, maintenance is usually carried out after Christmas and because of environmental factors like heat and light, some of the wishing spheres would deflate or change in colour; hence, they would either be manually inflated or replaced with a new wishing sphere.

The installation of the wishing sphere is certainly not an easy feat. With a crew size of 4 persons and equipped with 2 boats, the crew will have to either brave the scorching hot sun or the unrelenting rain to get this gigantic task done by New Year’s Eve!

Now that you know what goes on behind the scenes, be ever grateful that there’s someone out there who will make your New Year celebration a joyous occasion! Just head down to the Marina Bay on New Year’s Eve to check out the spectacular light display of the wishing spheres and don’t forget to bring along your camera!

On this note, we would like to wish all our readers a Merry Christmas in advance! 🙂

The year is almost coming to an end and for us, this year has really gone by so quickly that we are literally caught by surprise! As always, it is during this time of the year that we take a step back to reflect on the events and activities that took place in the last 12 months.

In this year alone, we have attended 100s of events, snapped over 70 Gigabytes worth of photos and videos, and wrote more than 139,000 words for A Winsome Life. Even though we are not some big time writers like others, we are extremely thankful for the many wonderful opportunities that were given to us and as we gear ourselves for the New Year, we are very hopeful that 2014 will be the best year yet!

To start the coming year on a very good note, we are very happy to announce that we have been appointed by the Urban Redevelopment Authority [URA] to be 1 of the 5 Official Bloggers for Singapore’s most exciting countdown event of the year, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014.
