Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful movie will be screening in the cinemas from 7 March 2013 onward and it will be the 1st Disney movie that I am planning to catch this year!
With a production budget of $200 million, Oz The Great and Powerful is a fantasy adventure film directed by Sam Raimi [the very same director whom directed all of the Spiderman movies]. Inspired by L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, Oz The Great and Powerful is set before the 1939 film, “The Wizard of Oz”. The film stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs, otherwise known as the Wizard of Oz and it is available in the traditional 2D format, and as well as Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats.

Personally, I am rather excited about this upcoming movie because “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” novel was my favourite novel when I was a child and it would be interesting to see how the plot of the movie would link to the 1939 film, “The Wizard of Oz”. Not only that, it would be good to reminisce my childhood days and catch the character [Oz] that I love on the big screen! I don’t know about you but I am definitely excited about Oz The Great and Powerful!

If you’re planning to reward your child for doing well in school before the March Holidays, bringing them to watch Oz The Great and Powerful might be a rather rewarding experience for them.

Here’s the Movie Plot [as extracted from Shaw’s Website]:
Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
