Hello Everyone,
this is one long overdue blog post and I sincerely apologise for the delay.

So, here goes…

Hazel [blogger of AiMakan] extended a food tasting invitation at Irvin’s Live Seafood House to us [Dawn, Grace, Jesslyn, and myself] and it was really a fabulous time of meeting up for events like these.

As Grace and I were there rather early, we went around snapping pictures of the place.

I really like the external facade of the restaurant and it has a rather classic look to it. Oh, and before I forget, Irvin’s Live Seafood House is located at 4 Jalan Leban, Upper Thomson Rd, (Singapore 577548). Anyway, its along Upper Thomson Road and because of its huge signage, I’m sure you will spot it along the way.

We were surprised to find out that Irvin’s Live Seafood House was celebrating their 4 Years Anniversary on the day we were dining. And yes, all their crabs were going for $10, irregardless of shapes and sizes.

If you’re someone that fancies some steamboat and cooked food in an air-conditioned environment, you might want to check out their Lunch and Dinner Buffet that are going at $13.80 nett (weekend price) and $21.10 nett (weekend price) respectively. Of course, dining over the weekdays would be much cheaper so I guess I need not put up the weekday pricing.

We headed to their backyard and there was a mini viewing gallery where you can see the crabs and fishes they have for sale.

As my hands were getting rather itchy, I just had to fiddle around with the crabs.

So before dinner began, Grace [blogger of Working With Grace] dished out some goodies that she brought over from Taiwan! Chocolate “condoms” and a Hello Kitty [Biscuit/Cake]! It was really thoughtful of her and I just can’t wait for my next trip to Taiwan!

Irvin’s Live Seafood House serves handsomely good food indeed. Check out the following dishes that we had and you will know why!

Salted Egg [Yam Chips]- Photo Courtesy of Grace

This particular dish is seriously fabulous! In fact, it is highly-addictive to the point that we just have to order a second helping! The yam chips are fried till crisp and have a tinge of spiciness to it. It really makes a good snack and once you start, you can’t stop.

All I can say is, its just buttery in taste!

Special Pork Ribs- Photo Courtesy of Grace

Well, the special pork ribs is special enough to make all of us drool [not literally of course] on our tables. It has a unique flavour and fried till crisp.

I’m not sure why many people are not fond of eating Egg Plant [maybe its the colour] but you might want to try this because it is crunchy and spicy.

Red Tilapia with Special Sauce- Photo Courtesy of Grace

I really like this fish a lot because its sauce is zesty and spicy at the same time. The sauce has a rather unique flavour and it complements the fish pretty well. The texture of the fish was also smooth and soft.

You know those Kungpo Chicken we always order at those Chinese Mixed Rice Store? Well, the flavour and taste is the same except that its Salmon Skin instead of Chicken.

And here comes two of my most favourite dishes for the night!

Black Pepper Crab- Photo Courtesy of Grace

It’s just crab with black pepper sauce and because I am a huge fan of crabs, this crab is not an exception either.

This has got to be the dish that deserves the highest number of likes at our table! The salted egg sauce was so addictive that we kept dipping our fried buns into it and in case you don’t know, Irvin’s Live Seafood House makes the best salted egg sauce in town. I wanted to buy some back for my mum to try but sadly, the salted egg sauce has to be ordered in advance as they are made fresh daily.

This is the salted egg sauce that I was talking about. It’s really awesome!

Just when we thought dinner was over, we were treated to desserts from Leban HK Cafe [a subsidiary of Irvin’s Live Seafood House].

Affagato

For those of you whom needs a little bit of awakening, you should try this particular sweet dessert. Its basically made up of a shot of espresso and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.

Crispy Butter Bun with Condensed Milk
I’m not a fan of dairy products so I didn’t try this, but Baby did tried it and she said it was quite milky; which means I probably would not fancy it anyway.

Savory French Toast Bites with Ice Cream
It’s just french toasts with ice-cream. I must say, its pretty filling due to its large portion.

The Sun Fried Ice Cream

This was a rather new dish to me because I haven’t tried anything like it before. The ice-cream is basically coated with breadcrumbs and deep-fried till golden brown. Honestly, I will prefer to just have the ice-cream without the breadcrumbs because the breadcrumbs were quite a mouthful. By the way, they have a variety of flavours for their ice-cream.

After the oh-so-filling dinner, we had a tour around the restaurant and I’ve got to mention this, if you’re planning to host some reunion dinners, luncheon meetings and etc, you might want to consider Irvin’s Live Seafood House as they have private dining rooms available for guests.

And to top it off, we were all so honoured when Stephanie [our host for the night and also Marketing Executive for Irvin’s Live Seafood House] presented each of us with a VIP [very interesting person] card where we can get discounts for future visits!
