We were very honoured to have been invited by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra to attend “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” concert that took place yesterday afternoon at The Star Performing Arts Centre and we were absolutely blown away by the splendid performance.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, is a continuation of a journey that started 12 months ago with The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was attended by more than 7,000 audience members, the highest number for any single orchestra-based concert production in Singapore in 2013. To reach out to even more audiences and make the performances more accessible to the general public, ticket prices have been reduced by as much as 30% from last year, while more seats have been made available for public purchase.

This highly-anticipated production gave audiences the opportunity to relive the awesome experience of the full-length Academy Award-winning motion picture projected on a giant screen and complete with Howard Shore’s iconic soundtrack performed live by the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and the Vocal Associates Festival Chorus and Children’s Choir.

Our Personal Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Concert

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is not just any ordinary concert. With the awesome experience of immersing ourselves in the full-length Academy Award-winning motion picture projected on a giant cinematic screen complete with original dialogue and sound effects, while listening to Howard Shore’s iconic soundtrack score that was performed live by the 250 musicians of a full orchestra and chorus, we had a really fantastic time and developed a greater appreciation for film music and live performance. The conductor for the concert was none other than Justin Freer and he did a really amazing and precise job. We are pretty sure the audiences had a really good time and were watching the concert in awe.

We really do hope that Metropolitan Festival Orchestra would consider presenting The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King next year!
