Two weekends ago, Jacqueline and I participated in the Energizer Singapore Night Trail 2014 [ESNT 2014] and it was an unforgettable experience. In its fourth edition, the ESNT 2014 garnered the largest number of participants and raised over SGD$10,000 for Energizer’s adopted charity, SportCares Foundation.
Held amidst the thick jungle of Mandai, participants were off to a good start as Mr Aaron Ang, Senior Brand Manager of Energizer Singapore & Malaysia flagged off the first obstacle race at 3pm.
The event saw various categories that tested the determination and strength of participants and it includes the 3KM Open Obstacle Race, 3KM & 1.5KM Parent & Child Obstacle Race, 18KM Trail Race, 12KM Trail Race, and 6KM Trail Race.
The Parent & Child Obstacle Race led to greater family bonds as parents and their children raced together, overcoming hurdles along the way to get to the finishing line. Designed to put their teamwork to the test, the obstacle courses saw parents and their children helping one another across a muddy swamp, crawl over a rope net suspended over water, and even slide down a 5-metre high giant slide.
Our Personal Review of Energizer Singapore Night Trail 2014
Truth be told, the ESNT 2014 gave us an unforgettable and memorable experience because it is one of the toughest race that we have ever participated in. The running route was full of very steep upslopes and downslopes and the paths were full of rocks that came in all sizes; making the run quite challenging.
Both Jacqueline and I participated in the 12KM Trail Race and it was not an easy feat because we were totally not prepared for the multiple steep upslopes and downslopes. In fact, when we reached the 1KM mark, we were so exhausted that we almost wanted to give up. Thankfully, the water stations that were evenly spaced out gave us the only form of encouragement for every 2KM that we completed.
Alas, we completed the arduous 12KM trail race!
Overall, we felt that the ESNT 2014 was well organised because there were a lot of safety precautions taken to ensure participants’ safety and also, fringe activities were organised to keep participants occupied while waiting for their race category to begin. Adding on, the bus transport that was provided to and fro Lorong Asrama was very prompt and efficient!

[…] Well, we say “Yes” as it allows the Hello Kitty community in Singapore to gather together and just enjoy a day out with one another. If the improvements and suggestions given by the race participants are taken into consideration, we are pretty confident that Pink Apple Events would do an even better job of organising this themed race in future because so far, they have done a pretty good job organising other races like the Energizer Night Trail Race.
