Hello Everyone,
thanks to an invitation from Dawn [the blogger of 365 Days to Play and Eat], I had the privilege to attend the Zespri 14-Day Daily Scoop of Amazing Challenge Kick-Off Dinner that took place at The Living Cafe and I gotten the opportunity to meet other bloggers [like Maureen, the blogger of Miss Tam Chiak and Ai Sakura, the blogger of Sakura Haruka] during the event too! Not only that, I was treated to a wholesome, delicious, nutritious, and tasty Kiwifruit-inspired 4-Course Dinner; and I also learnt about the health benefits of Zespri Kiwifruit through this event. So, read on to find out more!

So, the dinner took place at Upper Bukit Timah Road and because I was early, I was able to go around snapping some photographs.

I particularly like this photo of the surroundings that was taken right after I stepped out of my car.

Well, the venue isn’t the main topic of this blog entry. What’s the main focus here is the amazing Kiwi-fruit inspired dinner that I had!

I really like the cute soft toy. I should have grabbed one and put it in my car! =P

The very personalised table setting, right down to the details!

And check out this extensive dinner menu! As you can see from the menu itself, all the dishes served contains the Kiwi-fruit and I must say, it was the most unique dinner I ever had.

I was getting quite interested in the Kiwi-fruit and I was examining it from head to toe.

Can you tell the difference between a Gold Kiwi-fruit and a Green Kiwi-Fruit? Honestly, before I even attended this event, I absolutely have no clue how people differentiated between the Gold Kiwi-Fruit and the Green Kiwi-Fruit [except by telling from the stickers]. But if you look closely, the Green Kiwi-Fruit has a more hairier skin while the Gold Kiwi-Fruit has more of a smoother surface.

From Zespri Kiwifruit 2012

Another way you can tell the difference of a Gold Kiwi-fruit and a Green Kiwi-fruit is by the beaks of the Kiwi-fruit. A Gold Kiwi-fruit has a beak while a Green Kiwi-fruit does not have a beak.

Here’s Miss. Judy Lee [Marketing Manager (Southeast Asia) for Zespri Kiwi-fruit] sharing with us some information about Zespri and the Kiwi-fruit.

Do you know that the Kiwi-fruit is actually a native fruit of China? Well, in any case, I prefer the ones that are grown locally in New Zealand because the quality control standards there are much higher and stringent.

Here’s Miss. Pooja Vig [a Nutritionist by profession] sharing with us the health benefits and nutritional value of the Kiwi-fruit!

Do you know that a Gold Kiwi-fruit contains 2X Vitamin C than an Orange?

Well, after attending this dinner, I am a total convert and my fiancee can vouch for me because I have been buying lots and lots of Kiwi-fruit from the NTUC and I’m eating them every single day for breakfast!

So, let’s move on the fantastic Kiwi-fruit inspired dinner that I had.

For Entree, we had the Raw Bruschetto with Pesto and Kiwi Salsa
Pretty zesty and unique on its own. A very appetising start to a refreshing dinner indeed.

For Soup, we had Raw Kiwi and Apple Gozpacho

Even as I’m typing this entry, my hairs are standing on its ends because I remembered how the soup had a rather tangy sour taste to it. Its my first time having cold soup for a dinner and I must say, the soup was pretty exotic.

For Main Course, we had Grilled Salmon stuffed with Cauliflower, served with Mixed Salad and Kiwi Citrus.

This dish was fabulous and I really like it a lot. The unique thing about this dish is the stuffed cauliflower!

From Zespri Kiwifruit 2012

The cauliflower were finely chopped and stuffed into the grilled salmon.

For Dessert, we had Raw Kiwi Pie.

And we very much ended the dinner with yummy-tasting Kiwi-fruits!
