Double your Major, Double your Future

Hello Everyone,

the GCE “A” Levels results will be released tomorrow and I’m very sure many of you whom are going to receive your results are thinking about where and how you should progress next. In any case, this blog entry is not just for students receiving your results tomorrow but it is also specially written for working adults and students whom have a Diploma/Higher Diploma, and would like to further your career opportunities by upgrading your knowledge and skills that are relevant to the industry that you are working/might be working in.

With so many choices to choose from a myriad of courses that are available today, especially those offered by private educational institutions, how do you decide where to go? What if you would like to take up more than 1 course of your interests in order to enjoy the best of both worlds? You see, very often, when we are choosing from so many different degree options in a university, we all hope that we can take up more than one option.

Now why should you choose to take up a double major degree programme instead of a single major degree programme? Well, let’s look at it this way. When you do a double major degree programme, you are essentially picking up two skills instead of one. [killing two birds with one stone]  As an employer, to select and choose the right candidate for a vacant position, I would definitely choose a candidate whom has a double major rather than a single major. This is because, more often than not, in the working society, employers are seeking for all-rounders whom would be able to be skilled not just in one area but in many other areas. This would make you a valuable and indispensable employee to your organisation and also value-adds to your resume and working experiences. In other words, you stand an advantage over another candidate whom only has a single major.

If you are wondering where you could do a double major degree programme, Murdoch at Kaplan programmes now allows you wider choices to study more than one discipline with their extensive double major degree programmes. Hence, now you have the opportunity to choose 2 in order to “Twice the Knowledge and Double your Edge”! How cool is that?

Well, if I have this opportunity to choose between the lists of double major degree programmes that Kaplan offers, those of you whom know me really well would know that I would choose the Bachelor of Arts in Tourism & Events and Marketing (Double Major) because that is extremely relevant to the business that I am in the midst of setting up. By choosing this double major degree programme, I’m very confident that the two disciplines that I take up would help me to effectively position and market my tourism and events business to the right clientèle.
